RB DeaMonte “Chip” Trayanum (==> Kentucky ==> Toledo)

just a reminder everyone … I dont think he’s a plug and play.. he’s moving over from RB to LB … like Steele … it might take him some time

Yeah, that's how all the articles read and it certainly makes sense. He's essentially the 3rd LB for the '22 class.

I don't think RB to LB is a huge learning curve though. They are mirror positions in terms of keys/reads etc. Also not like there are a bunch of All B1G type players in front of him.

We shall see. Feels like progress. Who knows?

This part stood out

Trayanum will have to compete his way up the depth chart when he arrives at Ohio State. Steele Chambers, Cody Simon and Tommy Eichenberg are all expected back next season, while Teradja Mitchell and Palaie Gaoteote could also return for their additional year of eligibility. Mitchell Melton will also be hoping to earn playing time after missing the entire 2021 season with an injury, Reid Carrico will be looking to work his way into the rotation after redshirting this year and C.J. Hicks and Gabe Powers will both be candidates to play immediately as true freshmen.

“For me, once I hit the portal I wanted to be in an atmosphere I can thrive in and with people I can trust and be comfortable with,” Trayanum told Bucknuts. “That is Ohio State. I wanted to play someplace where I can win a national championship. After I sat down and mapped out all my options, Ohio State checked off all the boxes.”

The 5-foot-11 and 221-pound Trayanum said it hasn’t been specified which linebacker position he will play for the Buckeyes.

“I”ll go in there for defense and see what happens,” Trayanum said. “I don’t know which linebacker, but I’ve done it all. In high school I played safety, linebacker and running back at Hoban.”

Trayanum had plenty of suitors. Michigan was mostly thought to be the Buckeyes’ competition, but certainly not the only school in the mix.

except this kid was an outstanding LB in HS... He was a really good RB but he was outstanding LB... very good chance you have Steele Chambers part II.. with an entire pre-season to kick start it
and a winner... integral part of 3 state championships and one runner-up

1st team All Ohio as LB as a Jr, 1st team All Ohio as RB as a sr
vs Mooney he had 250 yards and 4 TDs.. in EIGHT carries
SPARQ was 115.59; timed at 4.66 in HS

Has FOUR years of eligibility left !!!

Another ultra athletic, swiss army knife that can hopefully play just as fast mentally as Steele.

One of the more notable examples of his versatility (mentioned in one of the transfer articles) was when they moved him to corner to cover Ballard in the state finals.

Have to love the versatility and pure athleticism coming on defense in this class (Him, Hicks, Styles).

All with superpowers to boot.

I believe he has 4 years to play 3 (had a full 2021 campaign), but that's still outstanding.

I think he has the full four if he uses the extra COVID year. 2020 doesn't count at for him because ASU only played 4 games so that's his RS.

As I understood it from one of the articles and looking at his career numbers.

Can you take the bonus covid year whenever? So he can take it in 2021?
