Agree. Truly bizarre they didn't use him when he showed he was capable and they had injury issues. I'll never understand why they didn't give him 20 carries in the Georgia game. Planning for 2 years from now in today's college football with a redshirt is dumb. The rumors of him either fumbling in practice, ok he never fumbled in a game, and he wasn't a great blocker, ok sometimes a player isn't perfect, your job as a coach is to scheme around that.Really. He was the most effective RB we had and we neglected to use him. We're still more than ok with Hendo and Judkins (Peoples too, maybe the other portal guy). So I'm not upset with it really, just saying this kid is a stud and will probably tear it up wherever he goes. I would be shocked if that's in Ann Arbor though, why go play for the guy that screwed you in the first place?
So my question is who was responsible for the breakdown with Hayden's redshirt last season which complicated matters? He definitely should have played last year. I know he did have concerns over pass protection, but he definitely was a good runner.Agree. Truly bizarre they didn't use him when he showed he was capable and they had injury issues. Running back depth is fine
Until it isn’t
Really hope this doesn’t come back to bite us this year
Day has repeatedly said rotations are the responsibility of the position coach. So it'd be between him Alford if anythingI thought that kid looked like he was going to be very good when he got the time to play. But why didn't he get the ball more?
It all makes me wonder if there was an issue between him and Day.
I agree with RB…. The best performers the past 2 years I think Dallan is ahead of everyone.I can’t argue your opinion. I just really disagree. He’s a good back, but best? I don’t see it.
Excellent pointsIf Day/Kelly feel that Ohio State has a depth problem at RB, look for them to add one via the transfer portal after the Spring transfer window opens. The transfer portal will giveth and the transfer portal will taketh away. Here's a good reference on all the additions/subtractions from the transfer portal so far this football season:
So far 19 players have transferred out (not counting Hayden) and 6 others have transferred in. Overall for 2024 I think Ohio State is winning the transfer portal game as they are getting some quality players to fill specific needs. Most of the players leaving are doing so for more playing time; which means they wouldn't have been starters and (barring a lot of injuries at their position) their impact of transferring will be minimal this coming season. Getting to play (i.e. start) at another school also opens up the possibility of a better NIL deal than they probably would have have had here too. In addition, they open up more scholarships for recruiting which is also a good thing. Check out the transfers of other teams in the link (above); this is now the state of college football. Most people thought that the players were unfairly treated under the old transfer rules and unfairly compensated before NIL. Well, both have changed. Like it or not the genie is out of the bottle and the genie is not going back in.

Some kids just turn it on in the games and imo that’s Dallan.
Such a shame because I actually think he’s a better back than Henderson. He’s certainly not as fast but he’s such a balanced back. Too the point where not much sticks out.
What a shame.
Henderson is a home run hitter but I think we missed out by not seeing more of Dallan. Every time he was featured he put up huge numbers. When Trey got healthy in the back half of the season last year, he was clearly -- crystal, even—the best back on the team. I’m not sure where the idea that Dallan was the best back came from. But the coaches didn’t see it either, apparently.
