RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

I cant wait to have him in Columbus, he will no doubt be in the two-deep, if not starting by the time the first game comes around. You see his size and then assume that he is a power-back, then you watch his clips, and he makes amazing cuts and just slashes through the defense. I havent been this excited for an incoming recruit in a long time, if ever.

It will be tough for him to overcome Pittman. I see a scenario similar to Minny, where Maroney is the feature back but Russell is also a star in the running game.

So happy to see Chris emerge out of the season with no big injuries. With no passing game to keep the defenders at bay, and meager blocking, he was an even bigger target. Can't wait until we start hearing rave reviews this winter.

Today I watched all the clips on Wells over and over again and I am so impressed. I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, because he looked unbelievable. For his size, to be able to cutback so well and his vision are superior to other high school backs. His tackle breaking ability is ridiculous as well. There were plays when I thought he was tackled but he managed to escape the pile and run for a TD.

I am extremely excited for him and hope to see both him and Pittman in the backfield.

ps- You think Butch Reynolds is going to get him on a speed program as soon as he gets into tOSU this spring?

Butch was actually working with Chris as his trainer long before he took the job w/ tOSU.

I believe both Chris Wells and Future Buckeye Hopeful Devon Torrence have been working out with Butch for some time

it happens when your muscles get tight and hot. my guess is he needs more pregame H20.

I would guess he is going to be on a pretty strict regimen of PediaPops before, during and after the season.

I'm glad to hear he is coming in early. I don't want to put too much pressure on the kid, but it will be nice to have him get a head start on his freshman year, especially spending that extra time with Coach Johnson.

Chris Wells

</TD><TD noWrap width=3></TD><TD vAlign=top>By Gary Housteau

Date: Nov 1, 2005

It wasn't the kind of senior season that Chris Wells was dreaming about over the summer but he managed to end his high school career in style by running wild on the Buchtel Griffins who are headed to the postseason. Despite the 42-28 loss, Wells' individual performance in the game was about as good as it possibly could get. Wells will now prepare to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 7 before he enrolls at Ohio State in time to play spring football in 2006.

Gary Housteau:
</TD><TD borderColor=#ffffff width=333 bgColor=#ffffff>I was proud and privileged to witness the end of an era of greatness this past Friday.

Chris Wells played his last high football game at Akron Garfield High School and he went out with a bang. The OSU verbal definitely may have saved his best game for last against the playoff bound Buchtel Griffins.

Wells needed 220 yards to reach the 2,000-yard mark on the season and he easily smashed the milestone by picking up 370 yards on 37 carries, according to my unofficial count.

I thought it would be quite a while before I saw another high school running back the likes of Maurice Clarett, but it didn't take very long at all actually.

He's the best ever in my book and I think a lot of Ohio State fans who have yet to catch a glimpse of this amazing physical specimen might feel the same way in just a couple of years. And as a testament to his character, Wells stayed all four years at Garfield High School even though he could have easily transferred to any open enrollment power and be guaranteed a spot in the playoffs in his senior season.

Wells will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 7, 2006, before enrolling at Ohio State in time to play spring football for the Buckeyes.
I can't wait till you all get to enjoy watching him.

The one upside to Garfield not making the playoffs is that C.Wells made it through his senior year without withstanding a serious injury, after game 1 this was a major concern.....and he finished his career on a high note (370 yards and 4 TDs against Buchtel)

Great Year Chris, rest up, we look forward to seeing you in Scarlet & Gray next year, ready to run over DBs

I can't wait for the Jan. 7 to see him against the nations best.
