RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Wells, who suffered a leg injury late in the third quarter, never was able to bust loose for a big gain. Coach Bob Sax said the injury appeared serious at the time.

"He had a knot on his knee the size of your head," said Sax. "He was concerned. We all were concerned."

The 6-2, 228-pound senior returned in the fourth quarter, which Hoban dominated.
Based on these comments by his head coach, I am not overly concerned.

Not making light of Wells injury status, but if he returned in the 4th quarter - does that make the Plain Dealer reporter -- who's noggin equalled Chris's knee swelling in size by Sax's estimation -- a pin-head, or just a small Buck-nut?

Becasue he came back and played on it doesn't mean anything.

D'andrea supposedly tore his ACL in a practice before the NW game last year and played in the game.

Clarrett partially tore his miniscus early in a game in 2002 and finished the game

But i hope your right. Would hate to see such a great kid and talent suffer a serious injury in game 1. (like Hartline last year)

After reading BN, I feel like I need to take a shower. Nothing but complete idiots they have over there. Bashing a kid for one bad game in which his oline was totally useless is not his fault. Also considering that Garfield has no other weapons than CW, I'm not over surprised that he had a bad game against a very good 3-5 Hoban defense where they do nothing but stack the box.

I dunno how Garfields season will turn out. I say this because Im not sure how quickly Wells can get back to action. Per BuckNuts:

<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="1" width="98%"> <tbody><tr><td valign="top">"Chris Wells earned 108 difficult yards on the ground and suffered a leg injury that required stitches in the process. Hoban won 21-7."

Can anyone else confirm or deny where the stiches were, how deep the cut is, or how the X-Rays turned out??

This SUX!!

In the end it was a sophomore running back from Akron Hoban, Steve Yoak, that everyone was talking about. Yoak rushed for 126 yards on 20 carries and scored a touchdown in his very first varsity football game for the Tyrell Sutton-less Knights. Garfield was inside Hoban's red zone on four different occasions and were unable to come up with any points. Chris Wells earned 108 difficult yards on the ground and suffered a leg injury that required stitches in the process. Hoban won 21-7.

and for the record.. dirty play by Hoban .. Hoban Coach Orsini would permit that...

I knew it! A Hoban fan admits their school cheats! After St. V's domination over them in the 80's they had to resort to these tactics.

By the way, I did edit the heck out of that quote and took it completely out of context. I learned that in ESPN Reporting - The Remedial Class by Professor Mike Freeman.

Stress fracture for Wells. Does not sound too serious as far as playing the rest of the season.

"Garfield running back Chris Wells, an Ohio State recruit, suffered a minor stress fracture in his right leg during Thursday night's 21-7 loss to Hoban.

Wells said Friday he wasn't sure if the injury would cause him to miss next Saturday's Garfield-GlenOak game."

The good thing about that is its not as serious as it could be. The bad thing is its not going to heal unless he quits playing on it. Personally I'd prefer he sit out a few weeks so he's healthy next season, but I guess thats a little bit selfish.:oh:

Garfield running back Chris Wells, an Ohio State recruit, suffered a minor stress fracture in his right leg during Thursday night's 21-7 loss to Hoban.

Wells said Friday he wasn't sure if the injury would cause him to miss next Saturday's Garfield-GlenOak game.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound senior was injured in the third quarter on a routine rush. He left the game, but did return to finish with 105 yards.

Wells said he knew his leg didn't feel right, but he didn't realize the extent of his injury until later. After the game, Wells also received several stitches.

``You can't make any excuses,`` he said of his game performance.

Wells is considered by several preseason publications as the best senior running back in the nation. Last season, he rushed for 1,939 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Garfield entered Thursday's game as the top-ranked team in the Preseason Beacon Journal Top 20. The Golden Rams open their City Series schedule Sept. 23 at Ellet.

Whats so pathetic is that the posters on the other site still will be in melt down mode over his performance......:roll2:

I don't agree that it is selfish to hope that Wells only takes the field when he is healthy. The Docs & Bob Sax are the ones to make the call on suiting-up Wells at game time next week. Given the opponent is Canton GlenOak it may be tempting to have Wells available. However, if Wells isn't ready you may do more harm than good. I am sure Sax knows that the eyes of Ohio (State) are on him right now - its a tough break for him, the Garfield team and, of course, for Chris.

So with the best of unselfish intentions - I'm hoping Wells only takes the field when healed up - and that Chris has a speedy and trouble free recovery.
