RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

I have, with Ted Ginn and one other guy, but I'll spare the thread...

Can't wait to see Beanie on the field, I loved watching the couple of HS games I was able to catch on TV, he was a man among boys...the season cannot get here soon enough (though I'll be at a damn wedding during the NIU game :()

I'll be at a damn wedding too! In Toledo, no less- might as well be in Ann Arbor! What is wrong with people? Why are they so inconsiderate to schedule weddings for Buckeye Saturdays? Just plain rude if you ask me.

Wells could score a lot of red-zone TD's this year and make a considerable freshman contribution. I honestly think the most anticipated freshman to come to Ohio State in my lifetime was Katzenmoyer, and the freedom that the defense gave him to roam allowed for the greatest performance of any Ohio State freshman. Beanie might make a similarly large contribution with the freedom that this offense provides. In that vein, I'm thinking 15 TD's is not unreasonable. We don't need 5 FG's against Texas this year!

The Clarett saga may have some impact on his playing time this year as well, IMO.. even though its a diffrfent situation entirely
why is that? Chris is a humble, hard working kid... 13 was a selfish primadonna. Clarett had a better spring than Wells, and had less competition as well. I can't imagine Wells will get the same PT as Clarett did, but I doubt it will be out of fear based on a stereotype.

No and I agree with you, it wont be for that reason, but you'd have to wonder if it were a similar situation to 2002 would tressel be willing to put chris in the spotlight right away?
Clarett was a humble hard working kid too, its interesting to read articles and interviews with Maurice pre-2003. I also used the word 'may' because i relize its a night and day situation, and with a star like pittman (in contrast to lydell ross) c wells can break in smoothly and not be thrusted onto the covers of SI and ESPN

i couldn't disagree more wholeheartedly.
Bottom line is, when he's ready to play he'll play.. and the staff knows what they are doing moreso than us.. just wondering if anyone else was wondering if JT would "shield" Chris more so then he did Maurice, like i said i don't think so just because its night and day, we have a feature back.. idk maybe shield isnt the right word.. its hard to put into words what i am trying to say..

i don't think that tressel ever considers whether a player is ready for the "spotlight." being able to play the way he wants the player to play is what matters. being on the field for the scarlet and grey IS the spotlight.

if it's a "night and day" situation, then there is no reason to parallel beanie with moc.

again, i don't think that tressel considers the spotlight, which includes being "thrusted onto the covers of si and espn." there are two reasons for an osu player being placed on a si cover: for ability and for notoriety. if beanie finds himself on the cover si, i bet it will be for the former and not the latter.
