RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Somewhere, Todd McShay just commented on Beanie's performance this weekend:

"It stinks!"

...and Cowherd is searching for the video of the Cardinals' locker room at halftime, which was available to all ESPiN employees, showing Beanie drinking pop and eating unhealthy foods...

[Reference to Beanie's draft day party which Cowherd used as an example of why he wouldn't draft him, or would at least draft Brown ahead of him.]

Does anyone have any idea where Beanie is going in most fantasy drafts? He hasn't been named the starter yet (at least that's what I've heard) - but it has to be at least in Rounds 4 or 5?

Took him at the end of round 5 yesterday. I thought it was a bit too high but he wasn't making it back to my next pick and not having my favorite player just wasn't an option.

I took a chance on him in round 4 of a 15 round draft last night. Partly becuase I had a solid RB group going into round 4.

Beanie's only issue will be his health (nothing new there). With the offensive coordinator gone (Haley) and Whisenhunt taking over the play-calling duties, I would expect Beanie to get some decent reps with Hightower. Whisenhunt is still a "run first" guy, even with the other offensive weapons at his disposal (Warner, Fitz, Boldin, etc.). If Beanie can keep that ankle injury at bay, and maintain himself physically, I would expect him to have some big holes to run through.

Wells playing way into starter talks

by Bob McManaman - Sept. 1, 2009 10:13 PM

He didn't mean for it to slip. He still was angry at his team for the way it played in Friday night's preseason game, and a lot was sifting through his head. Still, Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said something this week that perked up some ears.
He was talking about rookie running back Beanie Wells and how nice it was to see the first-round draft pick contribute, because after missing most of camp because of an ankle sprain, "Beanie was anxious to get in there because he sees the opportunity to start or to play a lot slipping away."
Start?
When training camp opened, and even after Wells signed his lucrative contract a few days later, Whisenhunt said second-year back Tim Hightower was the clear starter. But after Friday's game against the Packers, in which Wells busted a few big runs on his way to two touchdowns and 46 yards on seven carries, there could be a change of heart.
"I was just angry (Monday), and I said a lot of things," Whisenhunt said. "But you know, we're always going to have competition at positions, and the best players are going to play."

I was able to get Beanie in the 8th round last night.

Taking a look at Cards' depth chart
by Kent Somers - Sept. 6, 2009

Analyzing the team's depth as the season opener nears.

Offense

The Cardinals return nine players from the unit that started Super XLIII, so scoring points shouldn't be a problem. Tim Hightower, the new starting running back, held off Beanie Wells for the job and together they should give the Cardinals a big-play threat they haven't had at the position.

His ADP is near 80. Taking him in the third round is ridiculous unless you're playing in a twenty-five team league. Unless you're playing with all Buckeye fans and you're trying to put together an all-Buckeye team you hurt yourself bad. He would have been there later. Hope you're not playing for money.

Edit: I got him at 76 in round seven, along with Ginn in the eleventh.

your league must not draft well. Just a thought.. but some of us always draft favorite players early if there is a chance of someone else getting them. I have always drafted Galloway 2-3 rounds ahead of rankings.

At least you enjoy losing. I have a friend who likes the Bills...and drafts accordingly. He loses too.
