RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

I'd have Beanie, Eddie, and Hyde in the same category. It's hard to say anyone is "better"... except maybe George. He did win the Heisman. But he also had some ridiculously awesome linemen in front of him too.
Looking back, it's ridiculous that Cooper couldn't beat scUM or put together a serious NC contender in those years. Those players were still in the NFL just a couple years ago.

Don't know who to compare Hyde to, but I do know that this kid is another RB in a list of buckeye greats, and will be a kid that is remembered in the future as the most important player on this 2013 team next to Shazier, mewhort and miller(in that order, IMO). Hyde has been playing like a man possessed this year, and it's been a great season for him and the offense. And to think, he was almost an afterthought in his recruiting class, to being one of the top RBs in the country.

I'm sure you typed the bolded for political correctness, but I'd love to know who is better than Hyde today. There are guys with more hype, more stars next to their name on Scout and Rivals, on more media friendly teams, etc. I, however, don't think there's a back in the country who is more of a man among boys than El Guapo. I see a top-15 NFL runningback that's still in college.

Any list that includes "being remembered" and "most important" that doesn't at least include Michael Bennett and the second best QB in the BIG is flawed.

I was beinf a PC, lol. I wouldn't argue with him being called the best

Horseshoefetish: that's small potatoes to include bennett. Of course I believe he's been important, but the ones I mentioned are unquestionable leaders and best players, and bennett could probably be added to the list along with guiton and even cj barnett.

Eddie did have Orlando, and Archie had Hicks, but don't gloss over Eddie's HOF NFL career, dude was an excellent tailback who won the Heisman & rushed for 316 yards against Illinois #1 ranked D.

I think Hyde is better than Beanie. Then again, I never liked that Beanie sat out that USC game.

In order to find out, there's one important stat that I haven't been able to locate. Shortest rush. Up until Saturday, no one had ever stopped Hyde for a loss. And there were plenty of times the first contact was behind the line of scrimmage.

Find the players with a shortest carry of -1 or greater and start whittling down from thre.

I would do my normal breakdown of this many more yards in this many games, averaging this many carries at so many yards per carry, etc. But I think someone here said he has 947 yards already. Barring something catastrophic, he's got it. I'd say that I could get 53 yards in 2 games, but that's being too sarcastic. I'd be lucky to get 53 yards without any defense on the field before I fumble. But Hyde might get 53 by the end of his first drive against Indiana.
