RB Bri'onte Dunn (dismissed from team)

He was in a car that was pulled over for possession I believe.

Yes trolls will foolishly claim he's being cut, but this is his last year. They can't recoup that scholarship, unless there was some crazy late grad transfer . The spot will likely be given to a walkon like Joe Burger who might not have to return his offseason scholarship as originally planned.

I agree. For someone to insinuate that he's being cut for scholarship purposes is foolish. My point is that he (Meyer) should probably remind others that this is a repeat transgression and that was the reason for the dismissal. Otherwise, someone will look into how he handled Hyde and wonder why Dunn is being pushed out the door. I know we aren't comparing apples to apples here, but the first parallel that came to my mind last night when I read this story was Hydes.

There is a narrative out there that Urban runs a corrupt program and recruits only thugs. The fact that kicking a 5th year senior off the team doesn't help your 2017 recruiting doesn't matter. Whatever happens gets jammed into that narrative whether it fits or not. Urban can't win for losing when he dishes out discipline. If he is harsh on the player he is creating space, and if he is lenient (I'm waiting to see that) he has no values except winning football games.

I was wondering who the big dummy would be in the summer that got suspended or kicked off. We sadly have a winner.

I would hope that Buckeye players do what they can to not be "that guy" - the guy that provides any ammo to the Urban-hating narrative.

I think Urban has been consistent. Don't forget that Storm Klein went through a similar (perhaps) situation where he was thrown off the team for domestic violence. He was reinstated after the charges were dropped. I believe Hyde was initially suspended pending charges, in which case if he had been charged he likely would have been dismissed. We don't know the specifics for Dunn yet. But Hyde, Klein and allegedly Dunn all off the team for mistreating women. Even after reinstatement, both Klein and Hyde had to serve suspensions.

You seem to forget that Samuel was the #2 RB--not HB--behind Zeke, and did very well.
He was the clear No 2 in 2014 with 58 carries (6.6 ypc), but had only 17 rushing attempts in 13 games (7.8 ypc) last year. A decent chunk (maybe 10-20%) of those carries over the last 2 years were in motion lining up as a receiver. A lot of the 7.8 ypc were due to several runs of 30+. He was clearly our second best RB, and he could easily take over the load next year if he had to, but I do think last year he lined up a lot more as receiver partly due to depth there.
Meanwhile Ball had 9 (junk minutes), and Dunn had 15 (junk minutes), Brax had 45. Curtis' 17 rushes are more than anyone currently not on the team not playing QB. He would have been the starter had zeke been injured, but didn't get the junk minutes because he was needed at receiver. Brax got the second most carries, about 3.5 per game, but he wasn't in there ever as a blocker and I think Curtis took more snaps at RB (maybe 10 per game, but didn't get the ball 90% of the time).

Fellas.. don't forget about Noah Brown

6'1 and 240 lbs is not a traditional wideout.. that's a battering ram

1) He doesn't weigh 240 anymore. There was a recent report that he'd dropped about 20 lbs I believe.
2) I just don't see him as a running back. Moving the #1 wide receiver to running back makes absolutely zero sense to me.

Precisely why we should not worry about depth. It's clear that Weber will now likely be the starting RB, but with a proven Samuel to spell him along with Dontre Wilson as a potential scatback and Antonio Williams on board, I'm not too concerned about depth. Does it hurt a bit to not have Dunn (and Ball) as gap-fillers? Yep. But I still don't think we're "thin" at the position. It's just a matter of perspective...

because you're not from NJ and probably don't know beyond the few plays you saw before his injury.. but in HS... wooooooooo.. killer RB and WR
and if you look at the list of WRs..we're LOADED

PS We took our #1 FB and put him at LB... which was close to sole reason we went UNDEFEATED.. because we had some pretty good backups

Honestly, we've waited four years for Dunn to do something. His best day was a 13-73, 1 TD garbage time performance against illinois as a freshman. Never saw more than 6 carries in a game after that. Rarely appeared outside of mop-up duty. And the fact that Weber has received most of the attention at the position leads me to believe Dunn wasn't going to be a significant contributor this season either. Just one of those highly-rated recruits that never really pan out for any number of reasons. Weber-Samuel should be a solid duo. Williams and Wilson provide two more options. Add in the fact that we can probably count on 12-15 runs for Barrett most games, and I don't see how this can cause any real concern.

I completely agree with your points. My point was simply that we all know that there will be whispers of some of the accusations that you mentioned above. The best thing Meyer can do is put everything out there and be ahead of the issue. He is recruiting so well right now, I don't want to see anything slow it down. In the end I think it's a non issue and I am in the 100 percent no tolerance zone for domestic issues.

I'm sorry the young man did not live up to the hype. I congratulate him on achieving his college degree. Everything else is a story around the table later in life for most college players. Now, he has the challenge ahead of him to put that degree to work and improve the lives of young people. Best wishes for success!
This is the perfect sentiment for this situation.
