RB Brandon "Zoom" Saine (official thread)

He has more elusiveness than people give him credit for. HE's not Noel Devine, but he's still pretty damn elusive.

If anybody has ever seen TG2 highschool videos, he wasn't as elusive as Saine was.. just simply faster than everyone else.

Saine has it ALL.

Obviously, you love the speed, but his vision is amazing. He reminded me of a 210 pound Ted Ginn running the ball out there.

One of the most impressive things I didn't expect from him was his balance.... Numerous times in the video, it shows him trying to run between the tackles, yet there are no holes. He would take a big hit, yet keep his legs churning, then go 60 yards for a touchdown.

He might win the award for Quickest feet in a runningback since Reggie Bush..

IF he goes to OSU, I have no doubt OSU would use him and wells like a Thunder and Lightning thing that's so common these days.

I have seen Teddy's High School Highlights, and believe me he was as elusive as they come. Saine does not have near the cutback ability as Ginn, and I still believe that Small is more elusive than is Ginn after comparison, I am not complaining, but simply comparing and as all of you I would be more than pleased if they all were lined up on the field at once someday in that beloved S&G.

just watched the video on Saine. very impressed with his speed. The staff must really be impressed to have an offer out to him before camp. question:do we take two backs next year? If we can get Saine and Bradley Stephens or another big back, I will be more than happy. IMO, Saine is obviously a great talent and a must get. Michigan a player here? Na, we have a fence around Ohio.

Good call BGriff. Forgot we will be working with 18-19 schollies for next year. With that in mind I think the staff will be patient and deliberate when handing out the offers. I think with Saine already offered he has to be the staff's #1 target at RB. I could definately see a one RB class but figured with us only taking one (all be it a stud) this year, 2 next year would be logical. Limited ships so we probaby take one. BTW, I didn't know Ashley was so highly regarded.

I htink we have a limited amount of scholarships, and Saine would be perfect as the only back taken. Apparently, Darius Ashley of ST. X (I think?) is a stud and will be sought after in 2008.

I still think we will look for 2 backs tho. B/C there is a high possibility that Wells could be a 3 and done type player and if you only bring in one this year, we would be looking at Saine and then a guy or two next year. that would only give us 3.

Found this one rivals...

Some 55M comparisions:

Saine ran a 6.39 sec his JR year and has a 6.37 sec to his credit earlier this season, which is #7 in the country.

Jamario O'Neil 6.45 sec
Freddie Lennix 6.49 sec
Kory Sheets (Purdue RB) 6.49 sec
Willie Harriott PSU 2005 recruit 6.50 sec
Derrick Williams (PSU WR) 6.52 sec

Over on the Bucknuts free board TZimmmerman is posting we should write Brandon down as a Buckeye lock.

I met a Piqua fan who is good friends with Piqua's coach the other day. Apparently Brandon is very high on OSU right now and appear to be the team to beat. He didn't say he was an OSU lock but would be very tough for any other team to get him.

his only other offers right now are from the likes of BC, Northwester, Maryland, Miami (OH), etc. It all depends on how early he wants to decide or if he wants to camp at place like Penn State and Michigan and try and pick up some more offers. As things stand now, of course OSU is sitting pretty...we've offered and none of the other big boys have.
