RB Brandon "Zoom" Saine (official thread)

On the ? about Teddy, the 110 hurdle/ 100 dash double is very hard to pull off, especially at that level of competition. The 100 is right after the 110's. The body just doesn't get enough time to recover fully.

I saw B. Saine a couple of times early in the indoor season. To me he looked like a football player who was running track. In the 55m his start was technically poor. He really just seemed to rely on pure power and top end speed. He may be more technically sound now and as the season goes on, but it was amazing to me the way he was smoking other runners just on pure athletic ability. Also, it is impressive that a sprinter with such a powerful build is so successful at the 400m as well.

He is the type of athlete that you just get on campus and see where he ends up on the field. Have there have been any reports suggesting what position the staff is thinking he will play?

Brandon showed some toughness in the new clips, but I can't get the Tim Dwight comparison out of my head. The square shoulders, the upright style...the is a good bit of frame to expose for a RB. I still like Morgan Williams as the best pure RB I have seen in Ohio, but I do think Brandon has much more potential overall. Speed kills and he has an overflow. However, I do have my doubts about that running style at the next level.

I agreee, but he is just another gear in terms of speed. As you said his frame is nice, and I think that they could work on his running style to tweak it for him to get lower to the ground. With that said I think WR could very possibly be in his future, b/c you just can't ignore that speed.

There is a very, very long list of very, very fast guys who could not make it on the college level. I don't see that happening to Brandon, but straight line speed will only get you so far...

Now before anyone misconstrues what is being said, I think Brandon Saine is a great football player...however, I am not sold on him as college running back.

I can understand where you are coming from, but think of him as a bigger version of Reggie Bush. Brandon ran a 10.5 at a competition in California, and was deeply dissapointed by it.

Comparing Brandon Saine to Reggie Bush is entirely misguided at this point. Brandon's agility and vision is not even in the same league. The speed comparison is fine, but after that...no chance.

YA I HEARD Ginn WAS DOWN TO 10.5 and under that a few times at OSU but, Saine for his age/size is a freak of nature. I keep hearing he's 205 to 220 and for all that size to have that type of speed falls in the bo jackson/herschel walker category who were track stars to.

One ? about his 10.5 at glenville, why didn't he run in the national track meet with that. O'neal was suppose to be faster then Ginn at the 100.

Do you know what a 10.5 gets you at a National Track Meet? About 3rd or 4th... Why would he want to get 3rd or 4th when he can be National Champ in the hurdles and relays? You do realize the 100m directly follows the 110HH in race order?

Alright, mods, you can edit or delete as you please, but I just wanted to share this. I was browsing MySpace and found Brandon's page. All I can say is, wow, he is one stand up guy and even if he somehow did not live up to the hype in college, whoever gets him (hopefully it is us) will be getting on helluva great kid. There are no drug, sex, gang, profanity references on his page AT ALL, unlike some of the others they I have found. I will not name names, but I was quite taken aback by some of the pages I came across, if they were really real. And that's the thing, it may or may not be his real page, but it sure has heck is a great impersonation if it isn't. Brandon seems like a real personable guy and very humble. He is one of my favorite prospects out of this year's class, and possibly since I have been following recruiting.

Like I said, do what you want with my post because I know there has been rampant speculation regarding MySpace pages, but I just thought I would share it with you guys.
