Regardless, I'd like to see some fun and gun time...
Even if someone (god forbid) were to go down, we still have Wilson and McCall as well. We just don't have that big battering ram type RB, which isn't a major problem.

Never heard any speculation as to why Antonio disappeared from depth chart. I assume he will redshirt at this point. came in early and I thought he was ahead of what they expected in spring/fall camp. Injured? did he ever lose black stripe?

Not sure, but I think it likely has to do with Meyer being comfortable with Weber/Samuel/Wilson, and not feeling the need to waste a year of eligibility on some garbage time carries.
Look what a RS year appears to have done for Weber.

About a month ago, Meyer said Williams will be a good player eventually, but he's very young right now. I don't think it has anything to do with injuries, just that McCall is currently the better player. The word coming out around the facility leading up to the season was that both guys worked their asses off, but McCall was a magnetic personality who a lot of existing players gravitated toward. I'm sure the staff would also prefer to not have 3 different RBs with the same amount of eligibility left if at all possible.

A Wisconsin coach claims they let a 4-star recruit flip to Ohio State because of a mean tweet

Ohio State and Wisconsin will meet this weekend in a heavyweight battle between two of the best teams in the Big Ten. It’s also a reunion of sorts for one of the more intriguing recruiting storylines of 2016.
Wisconsin had an apparent coup early on the recruiting trail last cycle, securing the commitment of four-star running back Antonio Williams. After being a Badgers commit for over a year, Williams flipped to Ohio State in October of 2015.
Williams told Cleveland.com that he picked Ohio State because he didn’t think Wisconsin could develop him into the running back he wanted to be. After Ezekiel Elliott’s career at Ohio State, and given the Buckeyes’ superior on the field results, this isn’t too much of a surprise. Top recruits flip to Ohio State all the time.
But Wisconsin evidently has a different a different perspective on why Williams won’t be on their sidelines this Saturday.

"There's a reason he's not here," running backs coach John Settle said. "We talk about smart, tough dependable. If a guy doesn't fit that criteria, he wouldn't do well in this environment."
That reason is eight words.
Following Wisconsin's 10-6 loss to Iowa in the 2015 Big Ten Conference opener, Williams tweeted, "We will not be elite until Stave leaves”

TWO OF WISCONSIN'S TOP 2016 TARGETS SPURNED THE BADGERS IN FAVOR OF URBAN MEYER AND THE BUCKEYE
For current Buckeye tailback Antonio Williams, it was a bit more of a tumultuous recruitment. The four-star tailback committed to North Carolina – his first offer – during the fall of his sophomore year. During the camp circuit and after taking home Sophomore All-American Honors was when his recruitment really took off as the 5-foot-11, 220-pounder earned offers from schools like Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, and Wisconsin.
Williams, a native of New London, North Carolina (New Stanly) backed off of his Tar Heel pledge during the summer of 2014 and quickly identified the Badgers as his new leader. Fast forward to December and one of the fastest-rising backs in America was officially a part of Gary Andersen and Wisconsin's 2016 recruiting class.
A week later, Andersen announced that he was off to Corvallis to take over the Oregon State program. Williams, however, remained firm in his commitment to the Badgers and new head coach Paul Chryst.
The Buckeyes were in an interesting position at running back and at one point had three of the nation's best in the 2016 class. Kareem Walker committed during the National Championship game against Oregon, George Hill was the first commit for the class, and Demario McCall made things official in March of 2015. Hill opened things back up in October and the writing was on the wall that Walker too was on his way out.
Antonio Williams wasn't a new name to the Ohio State staff. The Buckeyes had extended an offer earlier in the process, but the two parties seemed to reconnect in October of last year Things moved at a rapid pace thanks in part to the familiarity with Tony Alford from his days at Notre Dame.

He was running hard yesterday. Good to see. I think it was smart for Urban & Alford to let him eat a little bit and get a couple touchdowns. Having some success might help keep his head in the right place after being I'm sure frustrated being passed over by Dobbins. And we might end up needing him this year with hamstring injuries being hard to predict.
