RB Antonio Pittman (Official Thread)

JT just said on 1460 that troy is coached not to pitch, more or less: "there's just too many bad things that can happen when you pitch the ball."

I know I said something along these lines earlier, but I don't feel like going back to look...

but every option QB is taught to take what they can get when they can get it. Only with an immediate/early threat impeding their progress will they pitch the ball. Stopping the midline, veer, triple, flexbone, etc is all about playing a responsibility. The QB is the most difficult to stop due to the blocking angles usually available and the reliance of LBs to cover QBs. The pitchman is often times eliminated by an OLB, SS, Spur, or CB whether he has the ball or not. The option relies on the QB to read and adjust according to what the defense wishes to give up....

Trust me...there is nothing wrong with this statement.

Troy did pitch the ball to Pittman on an option against Indiana and it went for about 15 yards IIRC.
he's also done a much better job waiting in the pocket, but people don't seem to remember that either.

So many of his critics hate his poor decisions as a passer, yet turn around and criticize him for not pitching the ball when he is having very good success keeping the ball, isn't risking a turnover, and is preserving a speed back who can't take as many hits per game as he can.

During the Archie Griffin years, the fullback always scored the TDs, and Archie got all the yards! At this point , Pittman should be dying to get in the zone!
The point is Archie won 2 Heisman without scoring a ton of TDs!

Who links to the individual post? :roll1: :)

So what if it was brought up before? People seem obsessed with the fact that Pittman hasn't seen the endzone, when he is getting great yardage and setting up our outstanding short yardage back named Smith, who has 8 scores.

Archie's stats from 75 (heisman year)
