RB Antonio Pittman (Official Thread)

Whoa. When was the last time a back ran for 700 yards without a TD? Ever?

I agree, sort of. It's not so much as rewarding your back as it is keeping the guy in there who's in rhythm and been averaging 5 ypc.

Detroit used to do that all the time with Barry Sanders. That drove me crazy. Barry would end the season with 1600 yds and 8 td's and their "goal line back" would end up with 200 yds and 8 td's.

If your back is averaging 5 ypc and is playing in a big conference, he more than likely has SOME ability to move a pile.

I'd love to see Pittman score a touchdown, too. But far more important than Pittman getting the touchdown is the BUCKEYES getting the touchdown. I'd rather see the QB sneak from 1 yard out on first and goal than see Pittman carry 4 times for 0 yards, after having the ball first and goal on the one. With the horrendous red zone offense the Bucks have had begining last year, I'm happy with ANY touchdown.

But if I'm JT, I call for Pittman to carry it next time they're inside the 5. Give him a chance, and if that doesn't work, call something I'm more confident with to score the touchdown.

It is kindof like the Steelers with the bus. All those other guys rack up the yards and Bus gets the TD's. He can move the pile better, just like the coaches thought Schnit could earlier in the year until he had his fumbles. Pitt has gotten carries on the goalline and he has not produced.

I was screaming at TS to pitch it to Pitt on one of his option runs for the TD. I understand that keeping the ball is the safe play, but it's Indiana. Pitch the kid the ball. He was wide open standing next to the pylon.

Pittman will get his TDs as soon as Troy learns that there is an option when you run the option.

"OK fellas. Me on three! Break!"

Has any back ever rushed for 1000 yards without scoring a TD?

it seems to me pittman has a different running style inside the ten as if he knows he will only get one carry to score. he will dance around too much at the line of scrimmage looking for the TD instead of just running for 4 yards. anyone else see that or disagree?

I don't think his mindset is "If I don't score on this play they won't give me the ball". At least, I hope that's not his mindset.
