They've had the lead in the fourth quarter in 11 of the last 20 games or something crazy. If they had more offense, or a QB who could read defenses, they'd probably be a pretty solid team.

Wow. Great stat. I haven't seen alot of the Raiders from this season or last, other than the Broncos game, so I can't objectively evaluate the team, but having the lead in the fourth quarter for the majority of your last twenty games, while still losing as many as they have has to crush morale.

Sounding lucid doesn't mean he is, and all of this is from Al's POV, probably biased. Team culture and daily work environment Al is responsible for, 5 coaches in 6 years says enough for me. Raider fans generally say that Kiffin managed to motivate players to play, competitively again, (post randy Moss) and was making real progress on both sides of the ball. Significant accomplishment with most any team, let alone Al's...and at 31 years old.

Relax, alpo. I said he sounded more lucid than I expected, which isn't saying much since I think he's senile. I also noted the end result is 5 coaches in 6 years and that lies with Al, so I'm really not sure why you quoted me as though you were saying something different.

I think Kiffin has a bright future - and getting away from Al will be better for him in the long run - but I don't think he's 100% without fault here, either. He did some things well, but it appears he could've handled some things better, too. He seems bright enough to learn from the experience.

Regardless, the Raiders are screwed until Al finally sells them or dies because he's too meddling for any proven coach to take the reins now.

Sorry, Jake, nothing personal, didn't mean to sound hostile. Don't profess to be a writer, so, the tendency, when I do have the free time, is to express only half way what I want. The alternative, of course, is to not post at all, which frequently is the route I take. Your last paragraph sums it up beautifully, and for me is the final word. :)

I was right, here's the quote. Pretty unbelievable.

During Kiffin's 20-game tenure, in which the team was 5-15, the Raiders took leads into the fourth quarter of 11 games.

ESPN - Raiders finally fire Kiffin, promote O-line coach Cable - NFL

Five coaches in six years is hard to comprehend.. what's even more amazing is that the best coach he had in that span was handled the worst. Kiffin's going to go somewhere and do a good job. St. Louis would be smart to get a guy that players like to play for. Maybe Kiffin will be a little hesitant of going into another sour situation though..
Just not the browns.. I'm holding out for Cowher
