QB1 Julian Sayin (All B1G, B1G Frosh of Year, All American, National Frosh of Year, National Champion)

This is the year of the defensive line. Indiana has a good one and the Buckeyes got better this week, but Sayin was running for his life. Kentucky is setting up KFCs in opposing backfield. I am wondering how height affects Sayin this year more than others and also whether he's been carrying a serious niggle. His passing has deteriorated this year.

Our expectations are very high.

Prior to yesterday’s game, Sayin was actually leading the nation in yards per attempt at 10.9 yards, and completing over 70%.

I hope he recovers and comes back before The Game, in which he throws 4 TDs to JJ to clinch the Heisman for him.
I’d be interested to see his numbers against the really good teams he’s played.

His accuracy against defenses that can’t bother him has never been a question.

Polling being what it is, I went to the magic google machine...here are the yearly splits between 2025 and 2026 against ranked teams. This includes yesterday's game.

Yearly Splits vs. Ranked Teams
  • 2025 Season: 5 games | 94/137 (68.6%) | 1,070 Yds | 8 TD | 4 INT | 147.6 Rating
  • 2026 Season: 3 games | 52/88 (59.1%) | 837 Yds | 6 TD | 3 INT | 154.7 Rating

I think Julian should come back next year. In the big games he’s really struggled.

I don’t think either back up is ready but I also don’t think what we’ve seen from Julian this year would have been good enough to win it all anyhow.

Provided the coaches actually call plays that Luke can execute it’ll be good to see what he’s got. I think we can run the QB more, move Luke since he’s not very tall, and get back to play calls where the ball is sort of predetermined like last year.

Hopefully Julian can heal up for this year

Its not all stats. You have to watch the games. Sayin was absolutely terrible last game, and not very good against a bad Maryland team.

I hate that he got hurt, but I am not sure Day will have him back next year... I assume he will hit the portal and Sayin will end up going the Kyle McCord career path.

I agree. I think the ceiling has been reached and the numbers you see there against the kind of teams we have to beat in a playoff aren’t good enough.

Based on the Maryland game, where his OLine was slapped together last minute but performed fine given the circumstances, it’s almost like him just thinking he’ll probably be under pressure is enough to get in his head.

Thats the problem. Any pressure and he loses his mind and motor skills... Hes not a "Gamer" thats for sure.

Mid way through last season he was like Drew Brees.

The amount of Bucks fans that called him Drew Brees was always going to be a let down of their own making.

The comparisons between Breesy & Sayin begin and end at 6ft + White. Same thing people said about Baker Mayfield. Goes to show just
how skin deep a lot of people see players ( I don't mean that in a racist connotation, but more of a gravitation)
