QB1 Julian Sayin (All B1G, B1G Frosh of Year, All American, National Frosh of Year, National Champion)

Even if he’s back, Day needs to hit the portal for a QB.

Kid hasn’t progressed nearly enough.
Harsh but fair. He’s still good but as I was watching the processing speed, decisions and missed throws live today, I thought we might need a Kyle McCord situation this off season.

Not calling for his benching this year- you can’t do that to QB1 unless you already have a plan. That’s too crazy. I think Julian, for better or worse, gave us the best shot and we had to roll with it.

But there will need to be decisions later - especially in today’s portal era. Hope he gets healthy and fights back to make the decision tough.

I’m really surprised after how he played last season with how he’s looked. Coaching?

Only saving grace would be if he got dinged early in the game and the last shot took him out. Even in bad games he’s never floated the ball and missed that badly.

But if that’s not the case, they’ll definitely have to make a decision. Can’t operate the offense against good teams if your QB who specializes in accuracy isn’t accurate. There are a few names that might be interested in hitting the portal.

Sayin hit his ceiling vs Wisconsin last year. I mean that in two ways.

- Game with highest comp %
- Game with most explosive opportunities missed.

Jules is a solid QB. But when you peeled back the layers from last season, weeks 6 -Miami game, you saw where the top out began to show its head.

You also saw that if that glass ceiling wasn't broken through, where defenses would then put him in a bind and you'd get to seeing that familiar sight of wheels just spinning.

We've seen more than just glimpses of that this year alone, which was my fear.

Not to pile all on Sayin, the OL & the running game are questionable for several reasons. Can't execute reach blocks, certain designed calls vs certain fronts ( vs Texas with tosses to an odd, over vs 2pt 9 tech edged and asking an OT to arch block those to the boundary) spotty initial angle points by RBs, which feel by design and singular execution errors.

Some of the talent is over valued, some of the talent the coaches aren't getting enough out of.

Speaking strictly offensively. The Defense has it's flaws, but Coach Pat has done a bang up job losing top tier personnel and shifting some of his structures to maximize what he currently has. Not seeing the same on the other side of the ball.

I have never doubted Day when it comes to QB but I’m starting to.

Hopefully with time to prepare to come in it looks a lot better in two weeks.
Lets be real - this program has been gaslighting us about its QBs since Stroud left.

Right now this looks like an identical repeat of the 2023 debacle. The starter is mid and the others are just flat out not good.

We're in absolute survival mode until Sayin comes back (if he does).
