QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

When TP does not have the weight of the world on his shoulders and is just out there having fun he can take a game over. When the spotlight is brightest and focused soley on him he abandons his athleticism and tries too hard to show his passing ability, too often forcing throws or making mistakes that lead to three-and-outs.

this is the one thing people are saying that i just don't understand. im not sure where/when pryor abandoned his athleticism that night. ok true, he didn't post huge rushing #'s. but i think it was pretty clear that usc was throwing the house at him to keep him in the pocket. outside of delay runs, i really didn't see any room for him to run at all. which i can pretty much guarantee was usc's game plan from the start. keep pryor in the pocket and make him win the game with his arm. usc won't be the last team that tries to force him to win with his arm...

It's all in his head right now.

I think he has put too much pressure on himself to be perfect right now. His passes to Sanz and Posey were absolutely perfectly placed and they were not easy throws. In both cases he had to drop the ball over the under defender and in a place the receivers could catch and run.

I agree he did seem to lock onto Devier too much this week but that is something that looking at film they can show him. On film when he sees that he never took his eyes off Posey on that pick he will see why that is such a bad thing.

One thing that I am more discouraged by is his game feel. He does not manage the clock well at all. If they plays are indeed that late coming in from the sideline he needs to know that and get everyone to the line quicker. I know he needs time to read what the defense is showing but there needs to be a sense of urgency when the clock is running out. Also, at the end of the game he has to understand the game situation better. Zero timeouts and less than 1 min in the game is not the time to scramble and pick up minimal yardage and get tackled inbounds. He has to know to get out of bounds or throw it away.

I would like to see him be able to read a blitz better as well. The corner on the first play of our last drive completely tipped off his blitz and TP did not read his hot reciever.

I like that he looks to pass first and run (never?) second but if they are going to give up the middle of the field he needs to take it. Too many times there was 5-8 yards in the middle of the field and he does not take it. If the pass is not there take the free yards and keep the chains moving.


Overall I like where he is going. Posey is going to be huge for TP as a passer. Sanz and Carter need to grow into viable options (Sanz is pretty good now).

We are seein the development of Terrelle happen before our eyes. I think in the long run (and especially next year), Terrelle will put it together and be very dangerous.

The way the team played in general, and TP's play at QB in particular reminds me a lot of Troy Smith and the 2005 Ohio State team up to this point.

Despite the loss, this team has to have gained some confidence. Like I said, I think this year is going to end up being eerily similar to 2005 (minus the Penn State loss, our D-Line is going to terrorize them).

Another bowl game against Notre Lame would do the offense a whole world of good!

Just saw the video of his post game and man my heart breaks for the young man. From and X O standpoint not his greatest game and a lot he can and will learn from, but you can see it in his eyes he is carrying the full weight of this loss. I feel bad for him and I hope he can shake this off and the best way to ay sorry (not that I think he needs to apologize to anyone) is go out and play and work his ass off like he has been.

Here is to better days to you young man!! Keep your head high and lead this team to a Big Ten Championship!

Agree. He'll be great in time. Just isn't where I thought he was. My dad says it best: He makes some great throws and reads, but then makes a boneheaded play. He needs to be more confident and decisive. He finally has decent protection and young but good WRs. Just needs to find himself and then he;s off to the races.

Oh no doubt if hes really dedicated to being a passing quarterback hell deff be here for 2 more years. I think next year is the beginning of the end for college football. Tebow, mccoy, bradford all gone its his time.

I've refrained from posting my thoughts but they are positive.

He'll continue to grow. I think he's a young man who has a burning desire to succeed.

My feeling is that right now he's trying to make every play a huge play when he simply needs to take what the defense is giving him. I made the comment in the game thread on a 3rd and 5 that was incomplete to a covered receiver that he had a huge running lane on the play. Tuck it, get the first down and continue the drive.

On an option to the left he had the opportunity to turn the ball upfield and get positive (3-5 at least) yardage. Instead he tried to beat the defender to to the outside and ended up with a small loss on the play. These are just a couple of examples.

The great thing about Troy Smith was game management. He took what the defense gave him and made them pay for giving it to him. When Terrelle Pryor does this he'll go from the tentative player we saw on Saturday night to an extremely confident player who knows that his opponent is putty in his hands. It will take some time but I'm confident he'll get there.

Anyone listen to the shows on The Fan today (1460am or 97.1 in columbus)? Many callers were questioning Pryors toughness like he's afraid to run or even do the QB sneak on those short yardage plays? This to me is complete BS and really annoyed me and I can't wait until TP proves these people wrong.

So what you are saying is that you have not seen Pryor's toughness yet either. He looks very tentative when he is running. He does not look like he is giving full effort or 100%. In comparison, guys like Brian Rolle and Boom Herron look like they are giving full effort when they are running.
