QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

So what you are saying is that you have not seen Pryor's toughness yet either. He looks very tentative when he is running. He does not look like he is giving full effort or 100%. In comparison, guys like Brian Rolle and Boom Herron look like they are giving full effort when they are running.

I think that you are manipulating his words a bit... granted he may not have stated his point as well as he could have. To be honest I am not sure what you are saying. I am assuming that you are stating that TP's running style appears deceptively effortless, though he is most assuredly giving 100% effort. After all, anyone who would question the kids effort is just plain idiotic.
I think the tentative running is a product of every "expert" (I use the term VERY loosely) analyst or fan shoving the one dimensional qb/ run-first qb/ athlete playing qb/ run first qb shit down his throat. He is trying way too hard to prove that he can throw the ball. If he would just play the game and utilize what works best for him then his passing skills will eventually develop. I just don't think this is something that should be force on him.

Everyone just needs to be patient and chill out on making assessments on a kid that's 2 games into starting his second year of CFB. Pryor is going to be a good one, no he's not Tebow(and not many are) but the light will come on soon enough. Let's not forget the guy who TP is most conmpared to, Vince Young, didn't have the light go on until his 3rd year in school! Not many kids can come right out of HS and be successful. I think this kid will really be great one day, maybe its this season, maybe it clicks the next game or next season, but we have to be patient with him. Too many fans and critics are ready to say this kid is overrated and his best football is ahead of him! I almost spit out my beer in laughter yesterday when I heard that Mike Wilbon said TP was overrated, R U SERIOUS!?! Give this kid some time, everyone wants instant gratification, and I understand that he was the #1 recruit, but sometimes it takes kids longer to grasp coverages, playbooks, etc. Think about if UT wrote off Colt McCoy after his frosh year, Florida with Chris Leak after year 1 or 2, Oregon with Dennis Dixon his Junior year, and the list can go on. Let's let the kid mature first, we have a possible star in the making on our roster and some(not all or even most) are throwing this kid under the bus when I'm sure the best is yet to come for Mr. Pryor!

I've refrained from posting my thoughts but they are positive.

He'll continue to grow. I think he's a young man who has a burning desire to succeed.

My feeling is that right now he's trying to make every play a huge play when he simply needs to take what the defense is giving him.

It does seem that TP has a bit of a chip on his shoulder when it comes to those who have negative things to say to him or about him (See the basketball incident in HS, see the Gopher DB he trucked into C-deck last year, see his comments in regards to Mark May). While that is a fantastic thing in that it drives him to work even harder to be the best, it can be equally as harmful when the drive to prove someone wrong starts affecting his decision-making.

IMO, A large part of his maturation will be developing the ability to discern whose opinions really matter and the self-confidence to ignore the opinions that don't.

EDIT - And that's all for today. Thanks again for joining me for BK's amateur psychologist hour. Be sure to join us again next week when we analyze why DickRod cries like a little girl and what it is that make Tate Forcier the number one (1) "douchebag" in MICHIGAN.

While I complement this young man for accepting responsibility, there comes a time when he just has to let shit roll off his back and move on. I think he dwells too much on the past in a negative fashion. Learn from your mistakes and grow. Forget the other junk.

Boom Herron is a back up HB at best I think its time we give one of the younger guys a shot or go with Saine. Boom cannot make the first guy miss. Full effort is great but when your not getting the job done, it doesn't really impress me.

You can't seriously suggest that your QB should run like a tailback or, even more absurd, like a wrecking ball MLB. The Bellisari experiment proves this.

TP is going to be better than fine. He's taken the need to pass first seriously and has been tentative to run. My guess is that he lets it rip this weekend and I'm sorry for the Toledo defenders who will be in the way.

I fully expect Pryor to explode this weekend. He has something to prove and game 3 will be a good one to settle down and put up some big numbers. I think TP wasn't relaxed enough in the USC game and he needs to shake off the demons and let his ability take over. Too much pressure on a young QB last week and the coaches have a responsibility to keep him "loose". If he takes one thing (one lesson) away from the USC game, that should be what Pete Carrol does with his players - allow them to relax and lighten the mood. That's just my 2 cents worth, but TP was a ball of nerves and it showed.

TP is were Troy was in his development. He is thinking to much trying to determine when he should stay or leave the pocket. Troy did a lot of this earlier on as he first always left the pocket, then seemed to go the other way and never leave the pocket. But we saw that by the Scum game the lightbulb went on in Troy's mind and as they say the rest is history. I expect the same thing to happen to TP sometime later this year and I can't wait for him to re-write history.......:)

what the coaches need to do is make the reads easier for Terrelle....I just don't understand the offense they are trying to run, and never will. Even Florida takes decesion-making out of Tebow's hands in a lot of regards. The misdirection throws to TE's, the deep ball's based off play action, rb's exploiting LB mismatches.....all calls that Tebow recognizes pre-snap where they're going to exploit based on gameplanning and playcalls. Not to say Tebow never checks down or goes through progressions.....but Florida creates pre-snap mismatches, and takes a lot of decesion-making out of the game. I just don't understand why tOSU can't do this for Terrelle on a more frequent basis. Texas did the same thing with Vince Young....zone-read offense, with simple options based on what the defense reacted too.

They can try and continue to develop Terrelle into a pocket QB that goes through several reads and relies on his arm, but it will be to the detriment of the team....IMO.
