QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Regarding Pryor being injured. It's funny reading all the message boards suggesting he was hurt prior to the game and the staff covered up the injury and keeping him out of Media Day etc. If he hurt his arm (which he said he did...he "rolled" it) it happened early in the game. He was throwing fine and DEEP all during warmups.

It was hurt. As the game went on, it got worse. 100%.

There wasn't anything in the media about it after the game, correct? And I expect nothing will ever be written about it?

Just wondering. I realize it may come off as an excuse, but I find it interesting to hear about injuries that never make it out to the media (happens A LOT, I bet). Who's call is that?

edit- I Google News searched for different terms and the only other place bringing it up is the Eleven Warriors Buckeye blog (as far as News sources).

No there was. TP said he "rolled" it in the post game. Haven't found out at what point in the game it happened though. It had to be early on.

Exactly. As we get info on the gameplan, Boeckman was not supposed to have as much of a role as he did....Pryor was injured

Must have missed that quote. Thanks for the info!

That's all people can assume right now b/c TP didn't throw deep at all in the game and he WAS during warmups. He was zinging the ball on target and deep with no hint of any kind of injury in pregame that would prevent him from performing as usual.

We have a few pretty close sources telling us as much. No assumptions.

You should see/hear some of the "earlier" theories. Some where saying he injured the arm in Bowl Practice and the staff "did a great job covering it up" and that's why we saw Boeckman so much. That and others "theories" were pretty funny.

TP's been a bit banged up all season if you want to get technical and may need some off season "work" done. He did say he got racked as hard as ever by one of our LB's on a run during Bowl Practice. His neck and back were quite sore for a few days after that one. But, for some to think his arm was injured before the game and prevented him from throwing as he can is funny.

Because I wasn't able to post back on bucknuts (yes, I was on their board searching around. Hey, it's the offseason.) I will post this here.

There seems to be a lot of people who believe Terrelle didn't progress as the season started. I however think he did improve tremendously.

I think the games he struggled most in, atleast passing wise, was the Texas and also the Michigan game. I think the only reasons he struggled in those games were due to the importance and also the type of defenses. Texas imparticular was a very blitz happy defense and simply didn't allow him the time to scan the field, and with a freshman QB who doesn't know where all his targets are that can be problem. I believe for a freshman Pryor was still better than I expected, but apparently that view isn't shared by everyone.

What does everyone else think?

Exactly.... This was posted in a Tajh Boyd thread. Some people there actually believe Tajh will start if we happen to lose against USC (ala Boeckman 08).

A) IT was bucknuts
B) These people have no idea how hard it really is to learn things that aren't physical. It's not like learning how to run or hit but things like reading defenses etc is much harder than it look. Especially when he's been primarily a running QB for a good portion of his football life.

I think Pryor progressed in the regular season amazingly well. I think he surprised everyone, coaches included with how well he was able to adapt. I think this led to the coaches trying to do too much with him during the bowl prep practices. All the QB work, watching tape, learning plays, regular practice and footwork/mechanics instruction, in addition to anything he did at WR. It was just too much for a frosh, even a super-frosh to take in, and as a result he was thinking instead of reacting against texas. I have every confidence in Pryor coming out and lighting things up next year.
