In December, the story was that the extra game was due to the players not coming forward about their extra benefits after tOSU had improved their education in that area - which was said to have happened sometime after the violations occurred but well before the story broke in December.

That's different than saying the players lied, and somebody that's criticized another poster for not being accurate in discussing the topic should follow the same standards he wants others to adhere to.According to the NCAA, cases like this would normally carry a four-game suspension (or 30% of the season). But the NCAA said that since the student-athletes did not come forward to disclose the violations immediately upon receiving the appropriate rules education, an additional game was added to the punishment.
"Once a student-athlete understands a violation has occurred, they must immediately come forward to report it," Lennon said. "That did not happen, so the additional one-game penalty was imposed."
