QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Why the hate on TP? If Cam Newton can be a QB at the next level, then so can Terrelle. All Cam did was throw short throws. I dunno, I dunno what they see in Cam that they don't see in Terrelle.

Actually they are quite similar. TP definitely reads defenses a little better but also at the same time TP has the ability to leave you scratching your head, at times, more so than Cam. If I needed a yard I would take Cam. I still like TP`s upside a little more and from watching them both I would take Cam at TE over TP anyday.

I really don`t see either one as a Probowl QB in the NFL....but both are amazing athletes, I would think TP will benefit from running a prostyle offense for 4 seasons and showing improvement each year. Go Bucks

TP has been an amazing college QB, but honestly I can't see him as a pro QB. He doesn't exhibit the arm strength nor does he make decisions quickly enough. It's interesting that TP does seem to have decent arm strength but more often than it should be, he lofts ball or just doesn't put the zip on that's necessary. He's still a great college QB, but I would have to see some major improvement in those areas to think of him as a pro QB.

guess who:

Passing Stats:
210-323 for 2770 yards. 65% completion rate. 27 TD to 11 Int
185-280 for 2854 yards. 66% completion rate. 30 TD to 7 Int

Character
One guy was involved in theft and academic fraud. He transferred before he was kicked out of school. He then went to a JUCO. His father went around to every SEC school asking for money which may or may not have been received. The other guy gets mad at his coach if they don't go for it on 4th and 1. He also sold his own personal property.

College Offense
One guy was in the shotgun formation 100% of the time. The other was under center about 65% of the time

Experience
One guy has 2.6 years of starting experience
The other guy has 1 year of experience.

Record as a starter
One guy was 13-0
The other guy is 31-5

Who has more NFL potential based on this? If I was picking, I would probably take the guy that has actually taken a snap from under center and had to go past his second read at some point in his career.

I'm actually not trying to say that one guy is a ton better than the other guy....But for 1 guy to be ranked as a top 3 QB in the draft and one guy to be projected at TE is a bit ridiculous.

Mel Kiper Jr. weighs in on Buckeye draft hopefuls
Expert sheds light on Terrelle Pryor?s future, draft stock of recent Buckeye graduates
By Jay Clouse
Published: Wednesday, April 6, 2011

ESPN NFL draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. talked about Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor, as well as three former OSU players hoping to hear their names called during the draft in a teleconference on Wednesday.

Kiper said he knows what scouts need to see from Pryor in his final season.

"Accuracy," Kiper said. "Throwing the football is the main thing.

"He has to throw the ball, and he has to be precise with the football, and he has to do the things from a pure passing standpoint."

Pryor's final season, however, will be shortened by the five-game suspension he and four of his teammates face.

Kiper added that he projects Pryor as a tight end at the next level, citing Pryor's size, athletic ability and the transitions other players have made over the years.

"Did he need to play those five games to prove he can be a quarterback? Yeah, he did," Kiper said. "I think there is going to be some concern whether he is going to be a quarterback or a position change, like I said, to a tight end spot."

The same Mel Kiper that dogged Chris Spielman...?

How'd that one end up, Mel.

Alrightythen.

How you perform against Toledo: Huge to the NFL scouts. Maybe Pryor had to play those 5 games to get the ESPN hype machine behind him, I'm sure the real scouts will be able to work with the game tape from some 7 other odd games he'll be playing in this year

I swear they make Kiper and McShay cover scouting/the draft because they aren't smart enough to actually analyze the game (and given the standard of ESPN in that regard, that is sure saying something)

If you're going to slam one guy for breaking rules, you have to slam both of them. They've both made some very stupid decisions.

But I agree with the rest of your post.

Not sure either will be a successful NFL QB. I'm still a Pryor fan, but I don't see NFL QB in him (yet). He still has some work to do in regards to decision-making and accuracy. I hope this suspension doesn't hurt his development.. certainly won't help it.

(I do think Pryor is a fantastic college QB. Just not sold on him as an NFL QB yet.)

question for you that requires a one word answer (yes or no)....

Regardless of how I worded the character issues between the two players, would you consider Cam Newton to be of higher character than Terrelle Pryor based on the general knowldege we have of these two players history?
