QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Reitz seeks out those sharing opportunities. As Oregon said, this is a guy who wants to call out another staff without taking any blame himself. He even tried to sneak in the laughable notion that Terrelle was accurate in high school, and it's been the scheme and pressure that's changed that. Terrelle was many things in high school, but an accurate passer was not one of them.
Every game I saw, he was.

Accurate in HS is easy most of the Db's are going to be accountants not D1 corners. The schemes themselves are more advanced disguising coverages etc. Our opponents know TP is talented physically so they do as much as they can to confuse him . How many weeks have we heard from TP or JT the opponents threw new wrinkles that had not been seen of film. Eventually all the tricks will have been seen and TP will become comfortable with whatever the D does..then he can just play and not over think every snap.

Reitz.... Do yourself a favor and watch TP Junior season High School State championship game to see the level of coach we are talking about. No excuse for them to lose that game.

As for as TP... Can such a dramatic turn around in composure and perspective happen in a week?? Doubt it, but I hope he does keep working hard and start to relax and start taking what the defense is giving him.

He can not keep alienating his teammates and the way he talks to them on the field and be a leader. I was optimistic that he addressed that and I hope he can build on this.

Reitz is right about one thing, Ohio State needs to move Tp around in the pocket a little more making the db's cover for longing and eventually somebody will be wide open. He would be better in a zone-read offense and it is also right that no NFL team uses this on a consistent basis. He is a better running that Troy Smith but he does not seem to have the same confidence as him either. The main thing is that i am trying to say is that Tp should run more if he does see any type of opening and that he should lay off the deep routes a little bit because he always seems to underthrow them.

Stating the obvious, but don't you think the coaches have thought of this. The way the ends are playing Pryor and the way our tackles have playeed I do not think this would work as well as people like to think.

Second, the mechanics to be able to throw on the run are far more difficult then a three or five step drop and perhabs the coaches see this in practice and do not think this gives us the best odds to complete a pass.

I over simplify the game at time as well, but I assure you the coaches go through so much studying analaysis and work with these kids that stating something ovious like roll him out more most likely been addressed a million times in practice, game planning, etc.

All i am really trying to say is that a couple of times during the Purdue game Tp would step up and it looked like he had at least 5-8 yards between him and the next defender and instead of running it he would continue to scramble and try to throw. If the D-ends are getting to pryor quickly it could be good if you go ahead and have him rolling away from them giving him a little more time to set up and pass. I am probably saying the same thing someone else has said but i just wanted to give my input.

Let's just hope the fans in The 'Shoe, on Saturday, have as much patience as most of us, if adversity strikes......

Doubt it..........most of those kinds of people are the ones who yell at you for standing up during a game and leave early in the 4th quarter so they can beat traffic home. Hopefully they are all "fed up" with the Bucks and jump on some other bandwagon, so some real fans out there can buy their tickets. :)

He probably thinks or was flat out told that they do not want him to run in those situations. It is pretty clear they are trying to get him to be more patient, and keep him from getting injured.

Hey, pal. What are you doing leaving a game early? Seriously, I hope it is only when we blow someone out :wink2:

Hey joefoshow - I wasn't trying to be a prick in my reply to your suggestion of rolling him out to throw, but rereading the mesaage I can see if it came off that way.

All I am saying is based on the defenses we are seeing and what they are scheming what are you seeing that makes him rolling out of the pocket be a better option? I was just breaking down why I didn't think it would be effective and looking for specifics from you as to why you think it would work.

Again, my apologies if the message came off brash!

I agree with your assessment for several reasons. One, Pryor's footwork is such a mess already, I can't imagine asking him to throw on the run would go any better than asking him to throw from the pocket. Also, to my untrained eye, Purdue seemed to bring blitzers from outside the tackle on a lot of plays, meaning Pryor would be rolling into pressure no matter which way they rolled him.
