QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Anyone who watches Jevan Snead must think Pryor is an AMAZING QB!!! Good LORD!!

I was thinking the same thing. Both QBs looked pretty bad but Snead was a high profile QB coming out of high school. Unless you were over 7 feet tall last night, it was hard to catch most of his passes.

Just watched the tv version of the game. I know Pryor did not get a lot of opportunities and the conditions were not great but I am not sure he took a step fwd in this game.

On a couple of runs he could have gained 5-7 but tried to cut it back and gained nothing

Held the ball way too long at times

Throwing the ball away into coverage.

Not protecting the ball.

Hopefully it was just never getting in a rhythm and the conditions causing some of these issues becasue even as outstanding this D is playing he is going to have to take this team on his shoulder for 2-3 games this year I think and I hope he is ready.

Go Bucks!

I will comment on this, but if he isn't going to get chances to make plays with his arm, he is never going to get better. I know the conditions and what not yesterday, but screens plays, short passes, are ways to get Pryor some confidence.

Some things noticed. He is waiting way to long to hit guys out of their breaks, he is still locking on one guy a lot of the time, and he doesn't like to throw to the outside guys.

If you notice all of his passes are to guys lined up in the slot, or when he has rolled out.

If we can get a deep passing game going off the playaction, and use the TE's I would think Pryor would gain some more confidence, but right now he is getting 10 chances to throw the ball, and he is so nervous he is always trying to make the perfect read.

Hopefully next week, he throws the ball 20+ times.

I think TP is still trying to score 50 point touchdowns when they run draws and the option with him. I think with some more time both in practice and games he'll allow the game to come to him instead of trying to win the game all by himself.

I DO think the coaching staff has done a fine job (such as it was) in attempting to be more aggressive with him. Conditions yesterday prevented a lot of throwing, but the QB draws were mostly there had he taken the yards that were there instead of bouncing everything. It'll come. Patience everyone.

I wonder how much of that is just having a hard time with the mental aspects of the game. Krenzel was on one the radio shows and outside of some blah blah stuff he mentioned he said it is clear he does not have command of the offense. Understanding what the defense is giving him and why a certain play is being called.

Tough job for sure, but I think that is why he locks on, and is terrified of making an outside interception because of the risk of a big play if the ball is picked.

I agree getting him going with some short passes and screens etc will help and allowing him to throw off P.A will help his confidence but if the average fan can see his lack of command I am sure the coaches realize that 100 fold.

I'm still a little baffled when he chooses to scoot along the LOS when it looks like he could just cut upfield and gain 5 yards. He never seems to explode through a crease. I wonder if he's always trying to make the 50 point TD as you say, or if he's trying to protect his body?

Who knows, but I can't help but think, we haven't even seen the tip of the iceberg of what TP is capable of doing out there.

I think most of Terrelle's problems are in his head. He still seems to be adjusting to the speed and complexities of the college game. It seems he has plateaued a little bit right now. He is better than last season and seems ready to take the next step, but just hasn't done so yet. Confidence and instinctive play are the two key things he lacks right now. The way I look at it, he has a nice stretch of five games coming up where our defense should make it easy for Terrelle to win games and keep gaining valuable experience. I like how the staff is leaving him in for complete games too, even when the victory is firmly in grasp. He needs as much work as he can get between now and November.

Pryor decision making...

Even though it was raining and Pryor didn't get the oppurtunity to throw much there was one play where he threw wide left to Sanzenbacher... did anyone notice 86 (can't remember the name), Ballard I think but anyway, was open too? But not just that, if Sanzenbacher and Ballard picked up blocks, Pryor would have had a 30 yard run easy, or more and possibly broken it for a touchdown). It happend in the USC game too where he threw it in the endzone and the guy dropped it where he could have walked right in untouched. Pryor is a great quarterback, obviously but whenever he should run, he throws. And whenever he should throw, he runs. I think he needs to prove himself on the ground first then passing second. It was just a small observation.

And also I'm new to this forum so if there is a search key about threads already posted please tell me about it because I could'nt find one. And if this is a repeat thread then please don't bash me up for it. Thanks.:)

Welcome to BP, buckeyemagic. The search tool is on the top ribbon. There also is a search tool in each forum and in each thread, in the ribbons at the top of each of those sections.

We try to minimize threads on BP. I have merged your thread into the official Terrelle Pryor thread.
