QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

A 4.33 40 time for a 6'6 240 quarterback? That might be the most amazing measurable I've ever seen.

Just for comparison, one player had a 4.30 in this year?s combine 6'2 210 Maryland WR Heyward-Bey seventh overall pick to the Raiders. Mike Wallace (No relation to the news caster to my knowledge) a 6'0 199 WR out of Mississippi ran a 4.33 and went in the third round based on speed alone. Best QB run was 4.55 by Pat White.

I'm Predicting there will be spread like passing/rushing statistics this year (well, maybe that's a bit of Hyperbole). TP looks laser focused on proving he is a well rounded quarterback. Should be fun.

Not on wearesc.com. On that board they are equating his 4.33 to a 4.6 saying there's no way he's that fast. Of course, on the flip side they're standing by 4.25 for Taylor Mays.

According to the population on wearesc TP doesn't have the speed to get to the edge on their defense. I call BS on that one.

He did it a few times last year to pick up a first down.

I read that thread. They don't seem to give a reason. They just say he "can't be". They probably think Ginn is a 4.4 guy and couldn't beat Reggie Bush too.

I hope so too, but I can understand why they under rate us so heavily. They gave us a good ass whippin last year when we had a more experienced and arguably more talented team. Only one way to shut their mouths.

Not by any measurement. The OL, QB & RB position were considerably less talented. Those with USC level talent (Brewster, Pryor) were extremely young, and RT was very green as well.

I agree that our O-line is better than it was last year. We basically have the same running backs for this game(crossing my fingers for Berry). QB has a year under his belt. That being said I still understand why USC fans think they are going to mop the floor with us. They did it to us last year and we lost of experience and IMO with all the losses overall we are not a more talented team. I just dont see us losing that many solid draft picks and coming back "more talented". That would be saying that this years freshman are more talented than the seniors/juniors we lost and thats a matter of opinion.

If Ohio State would have laid an the wood on somebody that lost as many draft picks as we did this year I would feel pretty damn confident that we could take them again. It will make it all the sweeter if we take care of business.

It really is kind of hard to believe.

I believe it, it's just ridiculous that he's that fast with his size.

The OL is more talented than last years. Whether they'll play better is yet to be seen.

In a talent competition, I take Brewster, Boren, Shugarts, Adams & Browning/Cordle over Brewster, Boone, Rehring, Browning at RT & Cordle. And I definitely take sophomore Pryor over the musical QBs last year. The true frosh who barely understood the offense was outplaying the starter.

Terrelle's Challenges, End to End: Terrelle Pryor will be back for his second season in a Buckeye uniform, and expectations are high for the quarterback from Pennsylvania. According to Jim Tressel, the keys to Pryor's improvement as a QB are at the opposite ends of his body: his head and his feet.

"I think it all starts with your feet," said Tressel.

"If you can get to the point where you have your feet under control and just right and it becomes second nature. Sometimes in drills it's easy. You're focused on your feet and you do it and you do it.

"Then you throw a secondary out there and you have 2.5 seconds to figure out what they're really in, where are my guys going, and use the proper footwork. It needs to be so ingrained. Technically, we believe everything begins with your feet.

"If your feet are right then your motion and everything else is in harmony with what you are doing."

The other key for Pryor is to develop the mental ability to remain focused on the next play and never dwell on the last one.

"From a general standpoint, having that ability to travel from one play to the next with focus immediately going to the next moment, and not concerning yourself with what happened," Tressel explained.

Tight end Jake Ballard says he can see a change in Pryor as compared to his freshman season.

"I think he's overall more comfortable with everybody," said Ballard.

"He's not the freshman who came in here and took a senior's job, a senior who was a good guy on the team and everybody liked him, so a lot of guys didn't know what to think.

"Terrelle came in and did a great job. He's definitely developing into one of the leaders on the team. He's definitely going to be a great player for us."

Going Long with Terrelle: Terrelle Pryor will no doubt launch a deep ball or two this season as OSU's quarterback, but according to Jim Tressel, Pryor is learning to go deep in another sport as well.

"He's gotten this sudden urge to be a golfer," said Tressel.

"He's like addicted to golfing.

"His high school coach told me that in their booster club outing this past weekend he won the long drive at 350 yards.

"When I talked to Terrelle I said 'You hit that thing 350 yards? Was there like a big wind?'

"He said 'Yeah it was windy, man it was windy.' I said 'And you were with the wind?'

"He said 'No, I was into the wind, but Coach, I don't think it was really 350. It was only like 335.'"

Stewart Mandel's mailbag had the question:

Would you rather have Robert Griffin (Baylor) or Terrelle Pryor leading your team for the next three years?

Terrelle Pryor inches past Robert Griffin as best dual-threat QB - Stewart Mandel - SI.com

In Stewart's response he said:

They've had it up to here with all the Pyror hype, and for good reason. Griffin is the real deal, folks. See for yourself. He's possibly the fastest player in the country (he barely missed making last year's Olympic team in the 400-meter hurdles) -- and he plays quarterback. Think Pat White with an even quicker stutter-step.

Is he faster than Pryor? Yes, absolutely. Pryor is more of a Tim Tebow/stiff-arm kind of runner.

...

(And then to back up why he would still choose Pryor)

He may not be highlight-reel fast, but with that size and strength it doesn't matter because defenders can't bring him down.

Could Griffin really run a 4.33 like Pryor did? I don't doubt that he could be faster than Pryor (although it would surprise me), I know 40's can be biased, but Mandel makes it sound like Pryor would be a fullback if he didn't play QB.

Not to mention 400 hurdle times are such a rediculous way to use as evidence of elite top end speed that would be used on a football field. I follow track a little and I have never seen a 400 hurdler that could also qualify for nationals in the 100 sprint, let alone a 40 yard run.

No disrespect to Pryor, who is amazing given his size, but Griffin might be the fastest CFB player right now.

Robert Griffin:

110-hurdles: 13.55, PR 13.3
300-hurdles: 35.33
400: 46.9

Ted Ginn Jr:

110-hurdles: 13.26 (wind-aided), 13.4
300-hurdles: 36.73
400: 46.57
