It looked to me like his throwing motion was much better than last year. I think a lot of college football fans outside of the Buckeye nation are going to be surprised by the strides TP makes/made in throwing the ball from last year to this year.

When he had time and stepped into it it looked good.

It also looked like he had some better zip on the ball...especially since it was windy on the field. Very encouraging. Not bad for his first spring game. :wink2:

I think without question he has improved his arm strength. I can't wait until the season starts!!!!!

Pryor passes: Quarterback shows marked improvement throwing ball
Sunday, April 26, 2009
By Ken Gordon
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Quarterback Terrelle Pryor did things yesterday he could not have done last year, and despite sitting in a blazing sun, that had to give the throng that showed up at Ohio Stadium shivers of anticipation for the fall.

The sophomore needed to make strides as a passer this offseason. His two long touchdown passes in Ohio State's spring game were things of beauty, leading Gray to a 23-3 victory over Scarlet in front of 95,722 fans, a national record for a spring game.

One was a rainbow pass down the sideline, the other a sizzler between defenders.

But maybe even more impressive than the throws was what Pryor said about them afterward.

"I don't know, that's just natural," he said, shrugging. "I just read defenses and see where the receiver (is) at and see the opening and zoom it in there."

He said it with nonchalance, as if it's something he has always been able to do. But it's not, which he later admitted. Last year, he was not far enough along to read and react as well as he did yesterday.

"I thought Terrelle threw it extremely well," said coach Jim Tressel, who was so pleased -- and hot, apparently -- that he deviated from the pregame plan by holding Pryor out of the fourth quarter and shortening the period from 12 minutes to eight.

I like the fact that they put a white jersey with red numbers on him to indicate that he should not be hit, in a year when Ohio State plays at Ann Arbor.

It's a year when we have the first game in the newly refurbished and expanded stadium etc. Lots of changes up there.

Say what you like about TSUN, but they understand the realities of life. Even TSUN defenders understand that no one expects them to hit a quarterback in a white jersey with red numbers.

I was definitely impressed with Pryor and although he certainly has more to improve on and do, I'm very happy with what I saw from him. He made some very good throws and showed zip and touch. Probably the only problem was the sacks, but with that I'm not as worried because we all know what he can do with his feet and with a full power OL, hopefully he'll have more time and won't have so many guys coming free at him.

The best part is that he has showed great improvement, but he still has 4 months until the season starts.

Yesterday was my first spring game, and it was my first of many to come. I definately enjoyed it, and it appears I picked a great game to be my first since we set the record at 95k. TP definately has improved his arm strength. What some may have missed out on is that both deep touchdown passes TP had were throwing into a stiff wind. The one especially was impressive because it was a rope hitting Ray perfectly in stride.

I was also fortunate to meet TP and Jack Mewhort last night as well while walking on High St. There is no question TP has packed on some muscle. I got to talk to him for a few minutes. This much is clear, he is ready to get back into it, and he is ready for the showdown with USC.

He has already progressed so much, and we still have all summer to go before the season. He is doing exactly what we all expected him to do. Nobody should ever question his desire, work ethic, and love for the game.

I'm even more excited for the season now after the spring game teezer.

In Big Ten ball, I actually prefer Michigan and Penn State over Ohio State (I know... boo! hiss! boo!).

So take to heart my sincerity in telling you that I think Terrelle Pryor is amazing.

In that OSU/Texas Fiesta Bowl last season, I thought Pryor was the greatest player out there, and he didn't disappoint (that was incredible when he went out to WR and caught that fade in the endzone for the TD). Pryor is a beast.

Agreed! TP was tenative and sometimes pushed the ball when throwing last year. Saturday's Spring Game he was decisive and had great zip on his throws. Me likey. Me likey ALOT!!!
