QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

I totally agree. I read a quote from Jack Mewhort already singing TP's offseason praises about what a great leader he is in 7 on 7. That's good news for us.
I've said it before and I will say it again. Give Terrelle his first offseason in which football is the only thing other than academics and girls on his mind and big things will happen. Sometimes we forget that this kid never even got snaps with the first team until week 4 of the regular season. Now he's got a full off season and spring ball. I have no doubt this guy will be a complete animal and that he has all the tools on offense to make another run at a Big Televen Championship and a BCS bowl birth.

+1

southcampus, we think alike. Also, just add all of the intangibles of the situation Terrelle will be in during 2009, as opposed to 2008:

1) A strong argument can be made that not only is this Terrelle's offense, but this is really his team now. Terrelle is the face (player wise) of the program. This will give him all kinds of confidence purely from mental point of view. Mentally, Terrelle won't have to worry about catering (although he might not have this year, who knows) to anyone or group on the team. His conscious will be more clear.
2) 2009 will involve more familiar faces to Terrelle who will seeing more playing time; specifically the 2008 class seeing the field more. The continuity between these newcomers is more valuable than people realize. Especially the O-line guys wanting to protect Terrelle. They're not going to want anything happening to "their" guy.
3) And generally, Terrelle will just be more comfortable in his second year. This is typically true with any student's transition from freshman to sophmore year. Normal everyday stuff around campus and at the Woody will be more routine.

If you're not on the Terrelle Train quick, better get tickets. Because when it's gone, it's gone. 2009 will be fun.

Mac, Im not agreeing or disagreeing with you, bc i dont really care about the "injury" anymore, but what would the coaches have to gain by covering it up?

Check out what BB said below...

After the game, talking about an injury to the QB that took most of your snaps could sound like an excuse as to why the game was lost. JT wouldn't want to sound like that, especially in a game against Mack Brown, for whom he has a good deal of respect.

He also wants Pryor to know that sometimes he'll need to play through some minor dings, rather than use them as an excuse.

Couldn't have said it any better

I trust the coaches more than I trust the government.

As do I, but there's some things that the general public doesn't have to hear as it really has no significance and could do more harm than good.

He said he was really taking on a leadership role.
TP isn't the only one showing leadership from that class from what I've been hearing.
I was talking this over with a couple guys the other day:"Troy in 05 vs TP in 09". Do you guys think TP can be further along passing wise than Troy was in 05?
Speculation of course but comparing the weapons, it's hard to say that anybody had more weapons than Troy did in 05 but TP should have some good ones to throw to and the ball off to this year as well. As far as reps go, TP already has pretty much a full year under his belt and will get to go through the spring and summer as "the guy", which I'm not sure Troy ever had until '06. Looking forward to hearing what some of you guys think.:osu:

Troy throws a heck of a ball. Troy's Heisman moment came against Penn State when he eluded the rush and threw a frozen rope to Robiskie in the back of the end zone. I've not seen TP throw a ball like that. If TP learns to throw the ball like Troy he'll be illegal!

Very true. Troy also did that as a senior. It will be interesting to see what TP's highlight reel looks like by his senior year.

That TD throw that Pryor had to Hartline against TSUN was a rope.

That was probably the best ball I've seen him throw thus far in his career. Saw the man coverage, hit him in stride and that ball traveled over 40 yards in the air.
I've heard people say that TP's arm is as strong as anyones when he gets his feet right. That play against Northwestern when he got passed 3 defenders and hit Nicol in the endzone was pretty heismanish for a frosh. Can't wait to see him unleashed on USC's defense.

You're right, maybe a little wishful thinking on my part.:wink2:

"It's really exciting, especially with Terrelle running the show," Mewhort said. "We had a 7-on-7 [last week], and just watching him take control, you can tell he wants to lead this team. He's pulling people aside, telling people where to go. You can just tell he's a natural leader."

The pass to Robiskie in the corner of the endzone against NU was on a rope. That was a hard pass to make but he couldn't have thrown it better. He threw some really great passes that game. We should see more of those this year.

Yep. That was his best game of the year...some beautiful passes. That pass to Hartline up the right sideline on the run might have been the best of the bunch, the throw that you mention to Robiskie was a thing of beauty, and that play to Nicol had Heisman written all over it. The improvement from '08-'09 for TP should be fun to watch.

TP had some of his better games on the road. He thrives in that environment, and I think he said publicly somewhere that he loves playing on the road. Anybody remember at MSU where he waived his arms in the air to taunt the crowd? Good stuff!
