QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Idk, I just think there's too much evidence to show that he was hurt, regardless of what coaches say (because I think they are covering it up). Either way it doesn't matter its in the past, the future looks bright.

Sounds like Mike is still bitter his Nittany Lions didn't get Pryor.

Mike,Pa: Do you see pryor getting any better as a passer this year? Horrible as a Freshmen!

Bruce Feldman: YEah, although losing experienced receivers will make it harder. The thing I heard from coaches is he has to learn to trust his system and be better at anticipating when guys are going to come open rather than wait till he knows for sure. Or else just tuck it for a 7-yard scramble.

I'm not going to argue that Pryor didn't have ups and downs as a passer, but didn't have the highest passer rating in the Big Ten?

Indeed he did.

Not only that, take a gander at completion percentage... how terrible!

What you must remember '86 is that he's a PSU fan - they never get to see any of their QB's as Freshmen - unless you count Morelli's final year :tongue2:
He really has no rational benchmark.

Re: injury in Fiesta Bowl - I don't know what the insiders have said or the coaches have said, but I know what I saw.
What I saw was Pryor windmilling his arm a few different times between plays, and short arm a bunch of throws that he hadn't earlier in the season. I believe he was definitely hurting some.

Re: stats - What is the number one bane of a QB's stats? Being in third and long, right?
How aften was Pryor in third and long? All the freakin' time.
And he still had very impressive stats, albeit with missing open receivers more often than he (or I) would like.

I think Pryor is much better than he gets credit for at reading defenses and finding the open man.

Amen. People forget that he was a true freshman last season. The kid is a dynamic talent. The best thing that he has working for him is his determination.......that, in my opinion, will get him the the level of an elite QB. He just lacks the confidence on the hard throws, which is common. When he gets that.........well, I think he will be great.

You know, I think it's kind of interesting when you come to think of it. It seems like the young guys in a system that are known as "passers" seem to really try to make too many risky plays with their arm........which end up in interceptions. The guys who are more known for their running skills are much more conservative with their passes, and always seem to resort to tucking and running.......which leads to sacks. The only time they pass the ball is when they feel pretty certain that their guy is the only one who will catch it. I think that Pryor is a prime example. Sure, he would throw the occasional long ball, but that's by design. Thing is, when that light started to click for TP, and he bought some time with his feet.......well, he was dynamic. Think back to the highlight reel that he rattled off against Illinois. He stopped thinking, he was just playing. Next season he will play much more confident on the field........which will be trouble for the opposition, IMHO.

I don't know either way myself, but I have a theory. I think his left shoulder was injured, not his right shoulder. With that, I retire from the debate.

Let's move on to 2009, I think Terrelle Pryor is going to make opposing fans even more sick of us, if that is possible. That look on their face is priceless, here's to seeing much, much more of it. :osu:

Mac, Im not agreeing or disagreeing with you, bc i dont really care about the "injury" anymore, but what would the coaches have to gain by covering it up?

After the game, talking about an injury to the QB that took most of your snaps could sound like an excuse as to why the game was lost. JT wouldn't want to sound like that, especially in a game against Mack Brown, for whom he has a good deal of respect.

He also wants Pryor to know that sometimes he'll need to play through some minor dings, rather than use them as an excuse.

I trust the coaches more than I trust the government.

really this is all it boils down to. guys were open and pryor saw them open, but by the time he recognized they were open it was too late to throw the ball. troy smith had similar problems in 05. for a qb to really shine they have to not only have talent but be comfortable in the system and with their team. kid was literally months removed from high school ball. it takes time. i have 0 doubts that tp will get there. i really think this is going to be a fun year for tp.
