QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

ozone

* Obligatory Terrelle Pryor Note: Pryor was the second quarterback into the game against Youngstown State. Many thought that would be Joe Bauserman, but Pryor got the nod. Tressel said that was not an accident.
"I guess what you can read into that is that was our opinion, that that's what we should do at that moment. I think as you've watched 20-some practices he's done an evolution. He's done a good job and we thought it was the best thing," said Tressel.
Tressel added that as of now, if Todd Boeckman were injured, Pryor would be the next quarterback into the game.

My thoughts exactly. While I am excited about Pryor's talent, and hope he gets a chance to contribute in the USC game, there are about 25 players who, in my mind, are more important to the outcome of the game.
That's hard to say IMO. I absolutely think we can win that game minus Pryor, but his abilities could be a huge boost to the offense and force USC's defense out of the comfort zone they could find themselves in with just Boeckman behind center. Pryor under center forces them to defend a whole different dimension. That is in no way a knock on Todd or me calling for Pryor to displace him, but Pryor could be a big time X-factor fo them to plan for.

I'm not questioning that Pryor can have an impact in the game, I was just agreeing with Oregon's reaction to the Oller comment, "Beanie or no Beanie, Ohio State loses that game without a well-prepared Pryor.". There's a big difference between saying Pryor gives us a better chance to win, and we definitely lose without a big game by him. I agree with the former, and think the latter is preposterous. The point is somewhat moot because Pryor will play in some capacity, so we will never know if we would have won or lost without him. I'm a little wary of throwing TP out there at this point in his career. He's never been hit by a Maluaga in a real game, and has not thrown into a quality secondary that he does not practice against evey day. I think there's a better chance that he excells than fails, but there's always a concern for such a young player. To clarify my statement about there being 25 more important players, take the quote, "Ohio State loses that game without a well-prepared Pryor.", and replace Pryor with Jenkins, Boone, Pretorious, Wilson, Laurinaitis, Freeman, Boeckman, etc, etc., and I think it makes the statement much more true. In reality, you can't pin the outcome on the performance of any one player. I do agree with you about the game planning aspect, but that doesn't even necesitate Pryor having a great game, just giving them something extra to worry about. Bottom line is, OSU needs to go in to LA and kick ass!

I have to admit that my expectations of how much Pryor will play and how much he will accomplish have changed dramatically in the past week based largely on JTs comments and actions.

A word of caution, everyone: Virginia is horrendous,
That quote is taken from the above article.

Finally someone said it. They are flipping awful. How can you justify after week 1 a team jumping 2 spots to number 1, when the two teams that were jumped win in a blow out. It shows the man love towards USC, and in my opinion making the rankings a joke.

I cannot wait till September 13th!

Why are you shocked they moved up USC to #1? For one that it serisously appears that the media sees USC to be like the LA Lakers are to Bball, the Yankees are to baseball, or Patriots to the NFL. And secondly, USC doesn't play, so that was theoretically the only chance they had to move USC up to #1 in time for the showdown.

Think about it from a marketing standpoint... which sounds better?

#3 Ohio State rolls into #1 USC
or
#3 Ohio State rolls into #2 USC?

Heck I wouldn't be shocked to see OSU get bumped up to #2 just because it looks better for THE BATTLE.

I agree completely with OSUBucknut10 on this one.

I always had the sense that Texas did not deserve to be #2 in 06 but it made for a nice early season story line.

It's tough to not vote the defending national champs high in the following season's early polls, even with the loss of a Vince Young...sort of like, "We'll let you prove it to us that you're not worthy first, before we vote you down."

Hey, Georgia could struggle this week. They are playing the 2 time MAC champs in Central Michigan. You know Dan "Tim Tebow is my Bitch" LaFevour is gonna bring the A game...
Speaking of which I think we have our own dual threat QB who might just want to make Rey Mauluga his.

I can see where you're going with this Bucknuts. From a financial standpoint it makes sense, but it can't hold me back from thinking its still complete and utter BS. It also doesn't help that I hate USC with a passion. Hate.

In order to keep this forum on track I feel obligated to say something about TP.

I did hear Mark May and Lou Holtz saying he would get around 50-75 snaps this weekend. How many do you guys think he'll get? I'm kinda hoping to see TB get more than he did last week.
