I don't see how TP seeing action will hurt the squad this year. His unique skill set would give us the ability to do some things offensively that we wouldn't be able to. And besides that every minute spent by an opposing DC preparing for a TP package is a minute they can't spend on Boeckman, Beanie, and the Brians.WyoBuckeye;1224460; said:

Not to mention the potential to use him as a decoy. When TP trots on the field defenses are gonna be on their toes which will open up things for all the other playmakers on offense.Sportsbuck28;1224507; said:

He isn't saying that TP getting playing time will hurt the bucks....what he is saying is that if TP plays a lot of minutes....it prolly means that something bad has happened to Boekman. ie injury or ineffectiveness which are both bad me thinks.

What was the name of that potential OSU quarterback from Florida who decided to pursue a major league baseball career instead, then came back to OSU when it didn't work out?

1. The guys is such a tremendous, once-in-a-lifetime stud that it is stupid to keep him off the field. Even amongst studs it is extremely rare for a guy to be this good right off the bat as a true freshman. That is just a fact. Even some of college footballs greatest all-time players were not all that during their freshman years. The game is tough to learn at any position, but TP is trying to learn learn the most difficult of all: QB. Plus, from what I have heard his throwing skills are going to need some work. You cannot be a stud QB without at least being somewhat efficient throwing the ball, I dont care how good you are on your feet.
OR (and more likely IMO)
2. There are major injuries and/or TB is not playing well such that TP is called into duty more (along with JB).
I have watched enough college football over the years to know that the later case is much more likely than the former. So I go back to my original statement: If you were to tell me right now that TP was going to see tons of PT this season, that would worry me.

Not knocking TP at all - but what are you basing this on?
When you talk about highly touted athletic QBs of the past few years some names that come to mind are Vince Young, Xavier Lee, Ryan Perriloux, Michael Bush, and Tim Tebow. The ONLY one of those who contributed at QB as a Frosh was Tebow and to a much lesser extent Bush as a RB. All had great athleticism and cannon arms.
Granted, TP has some special measurables - particularly his speed. But the word "good" implies that he can play the position. And I haven't heard anybody saying he is an out of the box QB ala Mustain or Clausen.
Don't misread. I love TP and his potential. If you had said "rare for a guy to have the potential to be this good right off the bat" I would agree. But I didn't see anything in his HS videos to show me that he can read defenses, go through a progression or hit on a timing pattern. We don't even know how well he can run the option at this level.
The only thing anyone seems to have observed up to this point is a flawed delivery (a bit over the top).
And I am not so much replying to your post as the rampant implication that the only thing OSU needs to become a better team is for TB to pull up lame.
