It also wouldn't hurt to not pull him after a botched exchange. If shit like that keeps happening, he'll be playing tight every time he's in there. Just name him the starter and hitch your wagon to the running game, the defense, and let the passing game consist of two reads... if it's not there, go get 5+ with your feet.

Not having him play at all, at home, against a MAC team was a really bad decision. He needed the reps and they were given to a guy turning the ball over with 3 and outs. Defenses are not afraid at all of JB. Whether or not BM can resolve his turnover issues, you have to go with him now. This is part of the punishment of the Tat5 incident. A rebuilding year and not a reloading year. Miller freezes LBers and has the arm to hit throws. Even the interception was a bullet. With more practice time and film study he would see the LB dropping and fit it in where it should go. Joe doesn't take chances. It isn't his style. It's all or nothing time. If you have 2 you don't have 1 and that is being shown to the fullest right now. Go with your horses and let them learn to be who they are going to be next year. It is the only way that Fickell can win this job again. Show that he has the nuts to go with Miller. Go all out or go home. End of story.

This is really starting to feel like '08 (close game against a mac team followed by a terrible performance against an athletic team.)
I worry that we underestimate how much talent Pryor had around him to bring him alone, particularly at the WR position. With that said, I think Braxton is better suited to pass the ball than Pryor was during his frosh year. Less weapons and a defense not quite as stout will make his frosh year a bit tougher but hopefully he'll learn more and come along nicely.

We are all talking about him being the future and that if nothing else, we need to at least be ready to develop the future. However, unlike most years, our coaches don't really have this same motive.

This. Not getting him some minutes against Toledo and then throwing him in against Miami was unconscionable from a coaching perspective. I don't buy that he was too beat up to have played against Toledo.

Agreed. These kinds of bad decisions are what lead me to believe that Fickell isn't the guy for the job. Youth is a fragile thing and the last thing you do to a budding star is to make him doubt himself. The last thing you want is a athletic freak playing tight....it'll spill into everything else he does. I just hope that the coaching staff gets it. Based on what I've seen so far I am having my doubts and it pains me to say it.

I'm glad he didn't play against Toledo, especially if he wasn't 100% healthy. I wouldn't have wanted him to make those same mistakes against a MAC team at home that may have cost us the game. Losing to a MAC team at home is much worse than losing to Miami on the road.

I think its a tough spot for Brax, He may be over thinking it out there a little too much, Especially when pulled after one play on the botched handoff, with that in your head, hes going to overcompensate, and end up doing exactly what he didn't want to. But what may be an even bigger issue, is confidence and rhythm. Of course every drive wont end with points, but normally you get it going, build a bit of consistency, and further build on that on the next drive, but thats impossible to do when your in for one series, then riding pine for the next 5-6 series. especially if that first series was a bad one.
