QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

Miller?s priority is learning OSU offense, not QB hierarchy

The prospect of becoming only the second Ohio State freshman to open the season as a starting quarterback does not seem to consume Braxton Miller.

Not that he wouldn?t love to become the only player other than Art Schlichter 33 years ago to do so. It?s just that Miller knows how much he has to learn, and that comes before worrying about his spot in the pecking order.

Three days into preseason camp, Miller is content to be fourth in line to take practice reps. He acknowledges that at times his head is swimming.

Miller is learning in small chunks. He said he learns four plays per day.

?I work on it that day,? Miller said, ?and then take it back to the hotel and work on it back there.?

Terrelle Pryor?s departure left the quarterback job wide open. Miller is competing with senior Joe Bauserman, redshirt sophomore Kenny Guiton and redshirt freshman Taylor Graham.

?It changed a lot,? Miller said of the quarterback situation with Pryor gone, ?but at the same time I still have to learn the system. I still have to take baby steps. I just take everything in and soak it up like a sponge.?

Hearing Braxton had one of his better practices today. Kid really showed out and made some BIG plays. Like Coach Fick said, he plays best when live and full go.

I'm liking his chances better and better.

Good deal. I really think Joey Baseball is the "official" starter but that Braxton gets the most snaps, especially as the year progresses. Biggest obstacle to Braxton is learning the system at this point.

Today was the first two-a-day of the fall and the first real day of hitting for the Buckeyes.

Instantly Braxton Miller seemed to ratchet up his game. I was told by a good source that Braxton was lights out today. I didn't get any more details than that, but I heard "it's on" after today.
