QB/WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion, OSU HOF)

God love 'em. What they lack in pure musical talent they more than make up in pure hatred for TSUN.

I have used their "music" to instruct my HS Senior about what a real college rivalry is all about.

Dude- my son is friends with the Dead Schembechlers. You should not assume they "lack in pure musical talent." This is not their day job; nor even their principal musical gig. It's a once a year odyssey to organize the local community's "pure hatred for TSUN" and demonstrate "what a real college rivalry is all about." Nothing more, nothing less.

Excuse me sir, but that is only one name drop (and you really didn't use a name, so more like .75) and the requirement has been elevated (for rebuttal posts only) to no fewer than 2 name drops per post. Please correct and move on.

Apologize in advance if it's already been determined but is Miller the frontrunner to start ?

I think the Buckeyes should just pound the ball with the talented stable of RB's and bring this talented Freshman along slowly. Still, let him play now, with his athletic ability keeping opposing D's honest. Give him a little bit more each game.

Thoughts ? Thanks again.

Bauserman took the vast majority of snaps with the 1st string offense in the Jersey Scrimmage, Miller mostly with the 2nd string. That would seem to indicate JB is the frontrunner as of now. Miller playing ahead of Guiton and Graham is pretty impressive for a true frosh, though. I'm guessing it's JB's job until it becomes apparent there is a significantly better option (if that becomes an issue).

I can't wait for Jwins to post his photo of Miller. It looks eerily similar to one from 4 years ago...
I set that up for Pryor 4 years ago, and ever since other photographers keep redoing it, usually when I'm on the other side of the stadium (and my 40 time is significantly slower than Datish's these days).

I can't remember if it was Michael Jordan or Ted Kennedy before he died but one of them told me "no one likes a name dropper."

The situation is notably similar to what we had 4 years ago with Boeckman. A five (+) year player being chased by a Frosh - albeit Bauserman has far less true experience and accomplishments.

I feel now as I did then. If the Frosh comes out of camp as #2 - thus getting the extra reps - it is only a matter of time before he starts. What I would never do as a coach is put the Frosh ahead of the Senior on the depth chart or in practice until you are certain he is ready (move backwards and you have done damage to both). That could happen quicker with Miller than it did with Boeckman.

The Miami situation could change how this would have played out. USC was also the third game of the season. It was on the road and a lot to ask of a true Frosh. I think JT went in to that game planning to win with Boeckman. He only went to Pryor when he saw that wasn't going to happen. If Miami is at full strength it could go the same way. If they are down a dozen starters all bets are off.

That said, if Miller is going to be the man by the end of the season it would be nice if he were the man by MSU.

And for my money there is little comparison as to where Pryor was at this point in his career versus Miller - nor has Bauserman shown himself to be a Boeckman.

If Boeckman only had decent offensive line play and Beanie things might have turned out different. This is a better situation for both players to show what they can do. Brax gives that extra dimension of the QB running that Joe B. can't do. Joe counters with a better understanding of the playbook.
Play 'em both early! Let it be sorted out on the field of battle. :tongue2:
