HUBER HEIGHTS ? The senior season of Wayne High School quarterback and star recruit Braxton Miller will begin in the spotlight.

The Warriors have accepted an invitation to play in the Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Football Series during Labor Day weekend, moving their scheduled game against Canton McKinley for the opportunity to play in Ohio Stadium on ESPNU.

The Sept. 5 game against McKinley will follow Wayne?s Week 1 matchup against Moeller. The Warriors and Crusaders will play in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown on Aug. 29 at St. Xavier High School in a game also broadcast on an ESPN property, said Wayne coach and athletic director Jay Minton.

Miller, Wayne?s 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback, has received scholarship offers from many of the country?s major college powers, including Ohio State, USC, Florida, Alabama and Notre Dame. His star power, as well as Division I recruits Tre Moore (defensive back), Anthone Taylor (running back) and Machael Bonner (defensive back), makes Wayne an attractive participant in such events.

Could someone help clear the fog away from my eyes here.....I seem to remember, not too very long ago, that there was a highly rated QB in Ohio that was a 'lean' to OSU, and ultimately signed with the good guys. There was also a 'throw-in' QB from Glenville. I seem to remember that throw-in became a Heisman winner.

Miller is a talent, to be certain, and given the system here (with the personnel OSU has), he could be a success. As could Jones. Methinks that you have to recruit the best players, and let them sort themselves out on the playing field. Not besmerching anyone (or intending to), but we take them both, and let the the cream rise to the top. OSU got a very good recruiting class when Zwick verbaled, and the supposition is that OSU would again if Miller did early as well. Heck, it already looks pretty good from where I sit.....and if OSU takes both, that would give OSU about seven QBs on schollie's, with Pryor and Bauserman with one year of eligibility left (after the 2010 season).

However it turns out, OSU is setting themselves up for another decade of great football, hopefully full of NCs.....

I agree with a lot of what you said Cali, but in this case as many others...it could be possible that the coaches are committed to only taking one QB. If that's the case and Miller accepts, then you have to honor that. That being said, I'd like to have both and see where it shakes out...and not have to worry about QB in the next class perhaps.

IMO, i think we only need braxton in this class. We took Graham last yr, and guiton the yr before so we should be good at QB. BUT if we have a scholarship open it would not hurt to give jones one, This kid is a athlete and can play alot of positions. And plus depth and competition wont hurt

I still think we want them both. In my opinion he (Jones) wants to be a Buckeye, and it's hard to turndown a Gville kid.

Miller is special but he has some injury history and will be running the ball a lot.

The hardest job in football is evaluating a QB, the second hardest job is too coach it. Bring them both in and let them settle it on the field! If not Jones will probably be in the Big 10 somewhere else.

Wow, I almost forgot about Graham. I don't think many of us can really count on a kid that can't even make it through a HS season healthy. I think he provides depth, but he's not going to be a star or starter while here IMO. But he has a lot of time to prove me wrong. I would want to bring in both Jones and Miller and let them compete against each other, Guiton, Graham and even Reed. We shouldn't put all our eggs in the Miller basket, sure things aren't always that, sometimes the kid with the upside can be coached to his potential. Heck, it's happened here before

And to say Braxton will be injury prone because he will be "running the ball a lot" is not very accurate. Braxton can run, but make no mistake about it...he is a drop back QB first and foremost.

I can't do any side by side comparisons because I don't have my image software on this computer, but does anyone else think that Braxton looks like a mix between Troy Smith and Terrelle Pryor.

I am not talking about skill or ability or potential or anything like that (that would be silly), I am just talking about facial features.

Maybe I am just crazy, who knows.

I'd rather use the blueprint that USC, UF, Oklahoma and Texas use, and take as many elite players that you can, especially if their in your home state and are quite interested in attending your school. I'm not saying that Braxton would get injured more or less, but we should at least bring in Jones(especially if he has the talent) and allow him to compete. But I wouldn't be mad if the class stopped looking at QBs after the Miller commit. And also, I'm speaking hypothetically here, but what if say Randall commits also, do we turn him away if Miller commits first? I know its highly unlikely, but just wondering.

Definitely, he looks natural throwing the ball. After a few years of reading defenses and working on mechanics, he might be every bit as good as Pryor when it's all said and done. Better? We can hope.

edit: He's also very good running the ball. I think he'll be a faster version of Troy.

He has had some minor injures in high school. Once get gets to OSU the game will be on a different level for him, while I believe he will become a solid passer and completely adjust at some point, the first year or so when he is not confident in a pass at any point in the pocket, I strongly believe he won't hesitate to use his 4.4 speed. TP has done the same thing his first two years, we are hoping this is the year he is more confident to make that pass now. But there will be an adjustment for Braxton as well.

I just don't see why we can't take two.
