I like your optimism but wayyyy to early to say that. I expect more out of him than last year and the potential is there. Robinson from Michigan will also be in the running, though their schedule is much tougher this year.

Pre-season heisman potential maybe. I don't think he will even be the September Heisman trophy winner, after 'Bama lays the wood on scUM.

He put up 20 TD's and close to 2000 yards off offense as a freshman last year. Traditionally college football players make their biggest leap forward from year one to year two. If he makes the kind of leap forward as I suspect he will, especially in Urbans offense, I'm thinking the sky's the limit for what he could accomplish and the post season awards he could win even if he still an underclassmen.

My gut tells me (and I have an over qualified gut) some people will shy away from giving too many awards to OSU this year; some coaches may have an anti-Urban sentiment (shocker) and the media typically frays away from giving awards to non-bowl teams.

That being said, I've already taken great pleasure in seeing Braxton grow and develop so quickly. It feels all the better to silence the many southern recruiters who were trying to push Kiehl Frazier ahead of him. Kiehl will be a good QB, Braxton will be remembered for a long, long time in Columbus I think.

Can you please provide the link to the NCAA's statement on what penalties would have been if OSU had declined a bowl last season?

Why would you think that not going to a bowl after a train-wreck season would have been considered punishment enough by the NCAA? The choice was a 1-year ban or a 2-year ban. They chose a 1-year ban, even though they knew some fans would not be able to comprehend the situation. And now players not involved in the infractions didn't miss a second bowl.

My only worry is injury. He took some big shots last year and seemed to get up every time. I just hope he can maintain that level of toughness but at the same time, I'd rather him not be getting that extra 1 yard if it means he's exposing himself too often.

I know what you mean. I hope that he can make a similar progression to what Troy Smith did. His sophomore year, he ran at first sign of trouble. But by his senior year, he was much more calm in the pocket and quickly and easily opened up passing lanes with his feet. Hopefully Miller can use his athleticism to open the passing game, rather than in lieu of the passing game. He'll stay healthier.

It's just about finding that sweet spot between when he's killing people with his arm, and when he's making plays with his legs. The guy is one of the most elusive runners I've ever seen, and it's going to be fun watching him break more runs like he did last year. But he's got to pick his spots and have a different mindset about it. I'm sure the coaching staff will put him in good positions to not only make great plays, but to stay healthy.

I'm not worried about his throwing. I think that will progress nicely.

My personal opinion is that Braxton is going to be much safer in Meyer's system than he was under Bollman's system. Last year, he had to improvise so much to make magic happen, and it was usually at the expense of a hit.

Now, Meyer will design plays to work to Braxton's strengths, and make the magic happen through effective playcalling. What I mean by that, is that he's not going to force Braxton to make a run on 3rd and 10 every single time, opening him up for a big hit because he *needs* the extra yard or two. Instead, we'll see more manageable downs to where our back can either get them, or he can simply run a sweep to the sidelines, and out of bounds.

It will help open space not having 8, 9, or even 10 in the box on every play as well. With less activity evading a big hit should be much easier. Can't wait to see the forward pass again for the buckeyes.

Not to worry. These herbies are only pre-season prognostications. Nothing more than window dressing in reality. The awards that count are the post season awards and I'm thinking BM operating in UM's offense will overtake that QB from TSUN in short order.
You tOSU fans should start preparing yourselves for a wildly successful season in spite of the post season ban.
