QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

The Browns would take Joe Thomas in a heartbeat if available. OL, CB, DE are all bigger needs than QB. I'd love to see them take a flier on Troy in the early 2nd though (I can dream).

Not if Brohm declares early.

I've been reading that Thomas will probably be the 1st or 2nd pick. The Raiders want him.
Watch the Browns drafted the OT from Michigan! He should go right around the area the Browns will draft

I've never been more proud to be a Buckeye than I was watching the Heisman ceremony. Tressel's words were nothing short of profound. Troy's speech was gracious to all the right people. A fantastic evening for the program. Congrats to Troy - Well deserved. His story is truly inspiring.

It's too bad that we lost the original Troy Smith thread.

During the off-season, I did a series of posts that I named (at first) "DBB's Daily Stat Break". They formed a mosaic of sorts of miscellaneous stats illustrating the greatness of Troy Smith.

During this point of the off-season, a story was published about how much film Troy had been watching. The story inspired a flurry of posts to the old Troy Smith thread. There I was, my mind (and my spreadsheets) swimming with impressive stats re: Troy; and then I read that article and all of the posts that it inspired. Needless to say, I made my own post about Troy that day.

I was as consumed with Buckeye Passion as a Buckeye can be, and my post exuded it. To say that I was prone to hyperbole would be the understatement of this young century (ironic, no?). But Troy went on to prove every line of that post correct.

I don't remember everything about that post, but I remember verbatim how I closed it:

me in the old Troy Smith thread said:
...This year, Troy Smith will become the first quarterback from The Ohio State University to win the Heisman Trophy

Congratulations, Troy. Not only are you the greatest quarterback in Ohio State history, considering the fact that your the Big Ten's first Heisman quarterback, you're probably the greatest quarterback in Big Ten history as well. It's been a great ride watching you play.

Here's hoping the Browns listen to Herbstreit and draft you.

Oh, and Poz is a class act.

Amen. While I don't think Poz was the best LB in the nation either of the last two years, I'm certainly not going to condemn him for being so awarded.

He is still a hell of a linebacker and a great kid.
