DISPLEASED: Ravens backup quarterback Troy Smith completed just 4 of 9 passes for 84 yards with one interception and no touchdowns.
He was also sacked three times.
?I?m definitely in a place where improvement is needed,? Smith said. ?If anybody is going to be the hardest critic of myself, it?s definitely going to be me. You want to be at the elite at your position. ?
?Along the way, you?re going to have some bumps in the road. You?re going to have trials and tribulations. You have to realize that everything is not always going to go the way you want it to. They did a tremendous job of applying pressure. My hat goes off to them.?

Troy Smith might be No. 3 quarterback Sunday
Backup quarterback Troy Smith didn?t practice but he returned to the facility for the first time this week. He has been battling an illness.
?I noticed no one went near him,? Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. ?It was like a ring of fire.?
Smith is the only Raven not to practice this week. Harbaugh said it was ?a chance? that John Beck would be elevated to No. 2 and Smith would be the emergency No. 3 quarterback.
?We?ll see how it goes,? Harbaugh said. ?That is a consideration.?

Ravens fans flock to Greene Turtle, Smith's radio show
By Patrick Stoetzer, Times Staff Writer Thursday, October 08, 2009
DYLAN SLAGLE/STAFF PHOTO Angela Cooper of New Windsor, left, takes a picture of her infant daughter Breana with Ravens quarterback Troy Smith as cornerback Fabian Washington looks on during a break in a live radio show broadcast from the Greene Turtle in Westminster Monday night.
Patrons who came to the Greene Turtle in Westminster on Monday looking for a table or the chance to watch sports on TV had few options.
The sign propped up just inside the front entrance gave everyone notice: ?Ed Reed In The House Monday.?
That?s all it took for the restaurant to fill quickly. Happy hour was in full swing, but just before 6 p.m. Ravens fans started gathering in large numbers.
They came to Westminster for backup quarterback Troy Smith?s weekly radio show. The third installment featured regulars Smith and co-host Ken Weinman, from 105.7 FM, along with special guest cornerback Fabian Washington.
And plenty of fans waiting for extra-special guest Reed.
Things started up in late September when Greene Turtle owner Leho Poldmae agreed to host a weekly show Mondays from 6-8 p.m.
Smith hosts each week and brings with him a guest or two. The show usually features a Q&A segment, where fans can ask players on-air questions, and brief autograph sessions during commercial breaks.
