QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

I don't think many people are bigger Troy fans than I am, BUT speed isn't one of the attributes that immediately comes to mind with him. He needs to play QB somewhere and I hope that happens relatively early in his career.

I just got done watching Pryors interview with Herbie, and in that he talks about Troy.
It just captivated me on how Great of a Leader Troy Smith truly is, we won't see another like him. His teamates would have went to hell and back for him, he has "it"
He is a legend in that Ohio State locker room and always will be.

Smith's primary impact for Ravens will be at QB, not WR

Some eyebrows were raised when backup QB Troy Smith got some work at wide receiver during offseason workouts. And there is no doubt that the Ravens? WR depth is something of a concern. That said, we?re hearing the chances of Smith contributing much as a wideout this season are rather slim; Smith is adamant that he?s a quarterback, and a source close to the club says the Ravens still like his upside at the position. (Recall that he had the position all but sewn up before he came down with a tonsil infection last August.) Could Smith be split out wide a few times this season to give the opposition something to think about? Certainly, just as the occasional work he gets at quarterback is something defenses must note while game-planning. The way we hear it, though, it?s those handful of snaps he takes as a passer that will continue to comprise the bulk of his work for the Ravens.

Baltimore Ravens | News | Training Camp Transcript - Aug. 4

Per coach Harbaugh

On QB Troy Smith?s abilities at receiver and if he?s running routes well: ?He?s doing fine. Troy?s a football player. But, I want to emphasize this again: We do a good job of moving guys around. To make too much of Troy playing receiver? You see Haloti playing tight end; Jarret Johnson plays tight end. We move guys back and forth all the time. We want to give guys an opportunity to use their skills to help us win. But, I know it?s a story because he?s a quarterback. Troy is a quarterback. He can play, and he?s throwing the ball really well.?

Any chance Troy locks down the #1 spot or is the other guy looking good also?

Unfortunately Troy is probably more likely to drop to their 3rd guy behind Beck than he is to get the top spot.

I can't see Joe Flacco getting benched. If anybody else becomes Baltimore's starter this year it's going to be due to an injury to Flacco.

I'm sorry, but really? I know Cameron really liked him enough to take him in the draft in Miami, but comparing rookie seasons I'm gonna chuckle and pass that comment aside.
