QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Am I wrong in noting that Smith is not under investigation by the NCAA, but that the school is looking into whether anything improper was done.... and that even if this is a violation it is not severe enough to merit any more game suspensions even though he would be a "repeat offender".

The accumulation of incidents seems to point to character issues. It's a shame because so much effort was made to get him into school and give him a chance at building a life . How much should the university have to put up with? This reflects badly on OSU and gives more fuel to the "rogue program rap". Very disheartening!

Couple things...

Racist OSU fans? Eh, "par" for the course.

That line of thinking is not only ignorant, but supports the very way a racists thinks. I have never met you Tibor, and I am sure you have not met most of these people on this board. Yet you group everyone together, and place a label on us.

Regardless of the wide variation of opinions here, from what has been reported it seems that Smith did indeed violate one NCAA by-law, and that was failing to get permission to go. We still don't know about his missing class. No matter what we think about the validity of NCAA rules, they are still the rules, whether we like it or not.

That being said, it appears that Smith didn't know he had to tell someone that he was going, and he probably thought that because he wasn't going to miss any classes (and hopefully his not missing any classes proves to be true). If his failing to notify proper officials of his intention to attend is the only violation, I don't see much happening. In fact, as pointed out earlier, had he not taken that booster payment, we may not even be hearing about this. The thing that will cause any penalty at all to be handed out for this is the fact that Smith is already on suspension.

As for us not having a chance against Texas without Smith, whoever thinks that can turn in your BP membership right now. Zwick impressed with his gutty performance in the Alamo Bowl and I can't wait to see what Boeckman has (some were saying he was the best QB in spring practice). We'll be fine with whomever is taking snaps for us on Sep 10th.
couldn't agree more. i would be more conscerned for smith if the ncaa hadn't given tOSU such rave reviews during their second investigation. as mili said this sounds more like smith didn't know he was supposed to tell anyone or didn't tell the right person. he could have talked to his professor(s) only or may not have even had any classes for all we know. i think a lot of people are reeeeeeeeeeeeally jumping overboard on this one. ts did some charity work. he didn't beat a 4 yr old crippled kid to death. sheesh!

no matter what happens, this doesn't affect the texas game. there is absolutely 0 guarantee ts sees the field against texas regardless of whether or not this happened.

Haha! You don't wanna try to meet him. He'll stand you up - just ask Alan... *rimshot*

yeah, a person who goes around stealing other people's websites and receives baptisms from college coaches is certainly to be trusted. :roll1:

BuckPride, click on Tibor75 (the username link), and go to view posts. You will quickly learn why there isn't a single person on this board that respects his opinion.

And I thought your sorry ass put me on "ignore". Oh, that's right, nobody else wanted to join in your silly game so you didn't.

Troy is obviously going to have to move in to JT's basement... because these little nuances that no one could possibly know all of them... can bite...

and where is McNair on this one... He should be accepting blame for not knowing the rule nuances... and being the one that could have contacted the AD too... He probably induced Troys attendance...
