Just sayin': Fahey looks like the "real deal" and has apparently earned the QB2 position. Tavien St. Clair didn't get very much pass protection on his interception; regardless, he still needs to step up his game.

You need more than size and athletic ability in P4 CFB. This honestly should’ve been expected, he ran basic of basic offenses in rural OH. The offense was, everyone run far and Tavien will throw it to you, if you’re not open he’ll just run over the 5’10 180lb LB and 5’9 200 DE for a 20yd gain. Thats the crapshoot when you sign QBs from schools that don’t run college ready schemes, or anything close to complex and competition isn’t the best each week.

The difference in Bellefontaine comp and Mission Viejo comp is standing out....mentally they are on different pages. As the confidence grows with Fahey each week it's only going to get tougher and tougher. St. Clair can be a good QB, as can Fahey, but we know it'll only work out for one here.

He's been here about 1.5 years. Not really that long, especially for someone so raw coming from low level HS play. We used to expect QBs to take at least 3 years to be ready. Not sure if he'll ever start here, but he might be the next Buckeye QB to go elsewhere and succeed.

What he is experiencing is exactly what he needs to motivate the development he needs. We'll see if he rises to the challenge. Would love to see an Ohio kid live his dream. Plenty of time left...

Rooting for the young man. Hopefully it just takes him a bit longer for it all to click.
I'm not saying he is a Cardale Jones or Lincoln Kienhoz, but there was a learning curve for those two as well.

My concern is that the coaches didn’t even let him try to move the ball down the field in the two minute drill. There isn’t a better opportunity to let him develop and the coaches decided to hard pass on it in favor of three hand offs.
That feels really negative to me. A vote of no confidence from the coaches and/or a major hit to St. Claire’s confidence.

For sure, and somewhat linked to what @BuckeyeNation27 was asking, it's like learning a completely new language. TSC is starting from scratch and Fahey is not. TSC was always going to need more time to develop, and in an ideal world year 1 was always a sit and learn year while year 2 was a 'let's start seeing things make more sense'. I'm not sure Day has seen that in practice, just reading between the lines. I felt like there had been concern from Day that TSC wasn't fully buying-in and investing himself like some other young players as he rarely, if ever, singled him out during the offseason.
You don't put a 3* true freshman over a 5* sophomore without understanding the future risk of such a decision, so I have to think Day feels quite confident with the decision and that there has been a clear gap in practice.
