QB Tavien St. Clair (Official Thread)

This 50% Ohio homers and 50% eyeball test is ignoring whatever % there is of people who just watched what looked like a baby deer on the Autobahn. I'd like to say it's not fair to expect a true freshman to look polished and prepared for a game where he wasn't expected to play......but then I see Michigan put their true freshman in and he's capable enough to complete a pass. And we have the QB Guru as a HC.
Sayin threw a simple short pass straight into the turf when he got into the game vs Tennessee as frosh. Kienholz looked like he'd never touched a football in his life when he got thrown into the game vs Mizzou. Your histrionics over Fahey struggling in ridiculously tough circumstances are short-sighted to put it kindly

Reading the tarot cards.. TSC has all the ideal physical traits you want in a QB..
but highly suspect he is not on par with assessing a defense.. reading coverages, etc.. today..
and that is how opposing coaches will attack him

This is where Fahey probably has the advantage..

Gotta trust the coaches

Histrionics? I'm stating accurate information. I don't know what the fuck filter yall have on my posts, but it's really fucking stupid and you should get it fixed.

Sayin threw a very large amount of bad passes yesterday, if we're judging QBs strictly by Saturday. I do think he was not well after an earlier hit, but that's pure speculation.

The best example you could have given?

CJ Stroud's debut showed off how valuable his legs will be to the offensive attack

What coach is catering an offense to a backup, especially mid season?
Jon Sumrall sure did and got a win at Texas for his troubles. Tressel did it for Pryor. Urban did it for Cardale. There are tons of examples of coaches adapting to their talent mid-season.

So because it was a road game and the other team was good, looking like a toddler who can't throw 5 yards is excusable? I don't expect Sayin 2.0, but I expect better than what I saw.

And I'm not on the TSC bandwagon, either. There were so many comments about how great he looked in the Spring Game, and all I saw was one great deep shot to CHjr and then a lot of ehhhhhhhh. But ehhhhhhh is better than what was shown to us from Fahey on Saturday. Maybe it was the garbage OLine. I have no idea.
I agree fully, watching Fahey piss down his leg was one of the worst QB showings I've seen by OSU since OSU played Mizzou with Brown and Kienholz. I'm not saying his play was excusable, but I doubt Carr has similar success if he wasn't playing in the Big House against a bad opponent.

Hopefully the staff finds a way do such. But Tressel knew that Pryor was going to eventually be the future. Urban didn't alter much of anything, he had an all world RB, and the passing game was just PA. Not sure what other tons of examples there are.

Whatever they do, the strength of the offense now has to be the RB and OL.

So I think Fahey logs about 75-80% of our offensive snaps while St. Clair has some installed packages that utilize his legs and throwing ability.

You can utilize Tavien’s strengths without asking him to read defenses.

It’s on Day and Arthur Smith to figure this out.
I’ll be convinced that Day does that when I see it. I’ve seen zero indication from him over his entire tenure that he ever values QB mobility or a big arm over a pocket passer that he perceives to be better at running the offense. I’d love so see them adapt that much, and if Chip was still here it might be a lot more likely, but I expect to see TEMU Sayin with more escapability and, I hope, more moxie/swagger from Fahey running pretty much what they typically run.
