Haven't read the whole thread but there are people bashing Tate in it? I have no problem with him exploring his options. He doesn't have a responsibility to Ohio State to do what's best for them.
As for what he said a week ago, who cares. He's 20.
Not really any bashing here. On other forums, that’s a different story....
I think the biggest gap is mentally getting up to speed in the offense. That would've been the best advantage Tate had and assuming that he leaves is the challenge Day & Co. will face with Fields.
Called it re:QB depth. We're only keeping one of these guys.
Good luck to Tate. I expected Day would try to slow play the choice like Haskins/Burrow even though it was obvious from the start... maybe they still do in order to get most xp out of Spring... but Fields is Day's guy.
Pretty much agree. I'm sure Tate feels a little hurt that he put 2 years in being a good soldier when he could have started for a lot of teams and then when it was his shot they immediately brought someone in to take his place. I have no problem with Day bringing in Fields and I have no problem with Tate feeling some type of way and exploring his options as a result. To the people who say he can't play anyway if he transfers so why not just stay? Because he has no future there and can start learning the playbook etc somewhere else?
Doesnt he grad in May? It's basically last year's situation x2... though i'd say Burrow handled it better.
Then again, Burrow had plenty of time to adjust... situation changed a lot more suddenly for Tate.
I'll be rooting for him if he does leave. Disclaimer... Michigan is impossible to root for...
How did OSU make the first move to distance themselves? By taking a 5 star recruit when the position group is very thin?Only so much a guy can take after seeing his GF with a new guy and having it shoved in your face. Cold world.
Hope he sticks around, but OSU made the first move to distance themselves, he's just taking the signs. I'm sure this hurts. Good on him and I hope he lands somewhere with success.
Fixed.
Gross. Awfully hypocritical to welcome Fields with open arms and then turn on a guy who leaves for the same reason Fields just left his team.
And then proceeding to show their shiny new toy off in front of everyone. Ohio State wasn't shy about how this was going to play out- I'm with billmac that concessions were made. And probably rightly so. Fields is next level talent and there's obviously reservations about Tate's abilities. How did OSU make the first move to distance themselves? By taking a 5 star recruit when the position group is very thin?
