QB Tathan Martell (transfer to Miami, transfer to UNLV)

OSU student locator shows a Tate Martell enrolled. I seriously doubt there's another person with that name that was already enrolled, so I assume that's our man. Might be time for a member of the BPRT to rename and move the thread...

You don't know that...

I'm not going to criticize this kid. I hope he becomes a great Buckeye. But for football and non-football reasons, I don't think he will ever take a meaningful snap at Ohio State as a QB. If I'm wrong, then ridicule me 2-5 years from now. But right now, that's what I think.

If he's willing to stay patient and learn a few years I think he's exactly the QB Meyer prefers. He's a dynamic runner and distributes the ball well. With great playmakers by his side I think he could put up monster numbers.

But Haskins is going to be a good one as long as he stays healthy and he was redshirted last year. I think Haskins will get 2-3 years as a starter before the keys are turned over to Martell.

And it's great to have the depth in our system based on the amount of hits our QBs tend to take.

Can't say this above sentiment has not crossed my mind quite a few times.

I'm looking at what is in front of him, what is likely coming behind him, his height - and his personality. Let's just say this young man isn't lacking in confidence. Putting all that together, I see a recipe for an unhappy QB. But if I'm wrong, I'll be happy for him and the Buckeyes.

I think that's precisely the kind of attitude that will drive Tate to prove you wrong.
