QB Tathan Martell (transfer to Miami, transfer to UNLV)

I promise I'm not trolling and I'm sure that this has been asked/answered somewhere in the previous 25 thread pages that I'm not going to read, that said, at 5'11" can Martell be successful at the top level of competition at the next level? Clearly, not having to be under center in UFM's system helps, but I see more of JTB's passes knocked down at the line than I'd like to and he's got at least a couple of inches on Martell.

It is a valid concern but it is entirely possible to be successful at Ohio State. This example is probably thrown out all the time but Drew Brees is only an inch taller and Russell Wilson is 5'11" as well. It all depends on how hard he works and how Ohio State puts him in a position to succeed. Whether that means moving the pocket or something else, we will see. This kid has talent and a comptitive drive that many do not. If he doesn't succeed, it won't be because of height. Just my opinion.

Also, closer to home with Urban, Chris Leak was just a hair under 6'0 as well. And of course we all remember a guy by the name of Troy Smith.

He does seem a little slim, but I imagine that MM & Co. will take care of that.
I think he can be a regular QB. He can't be the feature runner. Meyer has been trying to move away from that for two years, but his personnel (and scheme) have limited that.

Burrow, Haskins, Martell and Jones will provide a very different caliber of passer.

Crazy to think that Martell is the least good (I didn't want to say worst) passer of the four. Which is a really good thing.

Ohio State is on the verge of getting shutout for the first time since 1993, losing, 31-0, to Clemson in the College Football Playoff Fiesta Bowl semifinal.

The upcoming year should be a good one for Urban Meyer and Co., though. OSU has just one senior starting on offense or defense, and will bring in another top recruiting class.

A focal point of that recruiting class is Tate Martell, the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class.

Martell tweeted the following late in the Buckeyes’ blowout loss.

You can view Ohio State’s full 2017 class here

One thing that makes me less nervous about his height is that he has played against some top level competition that didn't exactly have 5'9" Dlines. He has see some tall players in front of him, maybe not all like he will see in college, but he has succeeded against as good of comp in high school as anyone really.
