And the Krenzel comparisons go back another dozen years… uggh.“Watching the 2014 championship when he was just a little kid.”
I’ve had quite enough of that kind of talk, thank you very much. That wasn’t 12 years ago at all.
I've lived in El Torro, Laguna Hills, Long Beach and Riverside for 20+ years. And about 20 years in Northern CA. where I currently live. Yes, fans can be fickle in CA. Especially So Cal.I’ve lived in SoCal a total of 12 years in my life in 3 different stints since the mid 90s. In my first stint I tried talking to people about football and found that no one cared. In my second stint I didn’t try. This time though.., since Ohio State is now recruiting well in Cali, I’ve found that the few football fans around here don’t follow local teams. They follow local kids, wherever they end up. Upon finding out that I went to Ohio state, several people have told me they’re pulling for Julian Sayin or that they’re looking forward to Chris Henry Jr claiming his place as “the heir apparent”.
My point is this… don’t be surprised if the crowd, even the cardinal and gold contingent, cheers for Fahey tonight
I asked Google Maps to highlight El Toro; then I asked it to highlight Lake Forest. It highlighted exactly the same area. Whatever you call it, the place where I work is in the center of it, just under 5 miles due north of the stadium where Fahey played in high-school next to I-5, right next to Laguna Hills. Agree. I was very impressed with him in the other games. He threw a laser between coverage that was dropped and picked off. Then the deep ball he threw that was picked off was a pass interference but even if it hadn’t been I’m okay with that kind of aggressiveness.Just want to go on record before the game and say Luke Fahey is going to be a good one.
I was there for the dirtballs at IU and I’m not worried. He was ice cold and came into an almost impossible situation. It all happened very fast. He alligator armed his passes because that was a rabid crowd and swarming IU defense - and anything high was going to be trouble that would ruin this team’s title hopes. It was truly a get the hell out alive situation.
What I saw that I liked - a huddle presence with the team and at the line of scrimmage. A pocket presence and confidence with his legs. I think he has a ‘feel’ for the game that people look for in a QB.
I think he shows a lot of command and poise tonight. If there are mistakes it will be because he’s a true freshman, which we have to live with now. It won’t be due to lack of arm talent.
I’m excited to watch him ball.
Very familiar with Mission Viego. I remember riding my bike down the hill (from Laguna Hills) and then back up on La Paz Rd. IIRCI asked Google Maps to highlight El Toro; then I asked it to highlight Lake Forest. It highlighted exactly the same area. It’s his to lose step up or step back. He s driving a Mercedes don’t wreck it.About to absolutely explode onto the national scene. Has a stronger arm and better legs than Sayin. He wont be able to see everything yet and might be a little rattled early on but he has the chance too be great. Let's hope he grabs it and runs with it.
