QB Luke Fahey (Official Thread)

The more I have thought about it the more I am still rolling with Ryan Day’s QB acumen here.

It takes fewer assumptions to believe that Day knows what he’s doing with QB than it does to believe the entire QB room is completely inept.

Time will tell but the kid has obviously thrown it a million times in HS. He’s been through a fall camp and passed a physical specimen for #2 on the depth chart.

I think this is generally accurate….The St. Clair and Fahey situation remind me quite a bit of Kienholz and Sayin from 2 years ago when they backed up Will Howard.

Everything I kept hearing was Kienholz is a stud and can be really good, but “in a different way”. The obvious indication was Kienholz would need a different system and developing to his talents is challenging when trying to gameplan and win on a week to week basis.

Fast forward to Sayin going down against Indiana, and Fahey is the logical backup…..he has a similar skill set and operates the same system. At this point, they’re not comfortable calling a “Sayin” game for St Clair and there’s only so much “install time” in a given week, so St Clair’s only real chance at playing time is OSU needing a unique skill set that requires a special install.

I actually think they’ll supplement Fahey with St. Clair to help in run game (zone read) and have some pass plays off of it….thats my hope anyways.

TSC apparently wasn't growing and improving with his reads. That is the kiss of death with Ryan Day.

Fahey in short order worked his ass off, is quick with picking up OSU's playbook and his reads impressed the staff.

During Ball State it was easy to see the difference.
