QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

Eh. I like Clay. What he does in an act to get a reaction. He knows it. Viewers know it. It's his spiel.

His podcast "Outkick the Show" is frequently funny. He had Eddie on a couple weeks ago to talk about the Broadway gig, and Eddie mentioned he couldn't have pulled it off without having worked with Clay Travis at FOX, because Eddie plays the role of a smarmy, asshole lawyer, so he told Clay, "Basically, I just channeled you."

Ohio State football | Jim Herbstreit, 1960 captain and father of Kirk, dies at 77

Jim Herbstreit, a captain of the 1960 Ohio State football team, died Thursday in Cleveland, said his son Kirk Herbstreit, an ESPN analyst and a former OSU quarterback.

He was 77.

Jim Herbstreit had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease a couple of years ago, according to his son, but he “died suddenly this morning,” Kirk Herbstreit told The Dispatch. “It’s a tough day for my family and I.”

He and his father were the second of three father-son duos to be named captains at Ohio State. Kirk Herbstreit gained the honor in 1992. The first had been Jim Davidson and Jeff Davidson. The third was Pepper Johnson and Dionte Johnson.

I will never understand the hate that Herbstreit generates on this site. First and foremost: The guy DOES NOT work for Ohio State. His paychecks do not come from Ohio State. He can't go on ESPN and make like he's voice of Ohio State football. His job is report on all college football and to try and be as unbiased as he possibly can.

You want that biased, my team, kinda crap? Give a listen to Dan Fouts calling the 2003 Fiesta Bowl and listen to what bias sounds like.

Further more, Kirk has been generous to Ohio State with his money.

Finally, the guy just lost his father. He gets my sympathy on this day.

I think the hate was generated from how he operated in the past, seemingly trying ro be anti-osu to a level to appear unbiased. However, I've gotten the feeling that since Urban got here, and maybe more accurately since they won the championship, he has been more level-headed and fair.

First, he lost his father back in March and no one is being insensitive about it.

Second, the reasons why he's brought such animosity are well documented and it isn't anything as simplistic as not being an OSU homer.

You don't understand it because you don't want to understand it. If he weren't a Buckeye, only Max would like him.
