QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

Just a bit of perspective...when ESPIN hires Houston Nutt to be an "objective" analyst and then uses that position to throw stones at the University of Arkansas let me know.

This crap has been played out in the National Media for YEARS. During live broadcasts and certainly during pre and post game "analysis". Comparing the two situations in regards to how/why/if fans of both schools act insane over said situation is a stretch to say the least.

I'm betting that Herbie has his kids decked out in [insert SEC team flavor of the month here] before it's all said and done. But let's be honest he's already crossed so many lines now what difference would it make?

I'll say that I'm a little shocked at some of the things said about Herbie here and elsewhere. It's pretty intense.

Arkansas fan has lived with the 'insane fans' label for a few years now based on how Houston Nutt was treated.

It's a matter of perspective I suppose. From the outside looking in, how Nutt was treated certainly looked insane, I'll give you that. And I'll even give you that some of it was WAY over the top and out of line.

The same principle applies to Herbie and OSU I guess.

The non-OSU perspective on Herbie is that he is a fair guy who works hard at being objective. The gripes y'all have about some of the things he's said about OSU barely even register outside of OSU and make up just a couple of tiny drops in the bucket of how College Football fan looks at OSU.
wait you mean non-osu fans don't notice or care when he is classless or unfair to OSU? Shocking. :so:

Most of the nation has no idea and / or cares that, nor should they unless they are a rival enjoying the slam:

He argued on ESPN that no offensive prospect should want to play for Tressel

That he slandered three innocent kids on national tv and never took it back, a month over bending over backwards to take back and repent for calling mcgloin a handoff QB.

Goes off the deep end with juvenile and emotional b10 hyperbole every six months, the big ten is equal to the MAC, Pryor would be addition by subtraction, the big ten is set back ten years, Steve breaston is worthless, etc.

That he penalized OSU four spots for winning a bowl game and lied through his teeth about why two times, hiding behind his radio partner lobbing softballs and using his typical manipulative methods shaming listeners that would dare to question his actions

He has had a three year long feud with an immature kid in Pryor, privately and publicly.

Robert Smith lives in Florida.

I must say though, it would only take one threat to my family or kids to make me leave town, and I would bet a million bucks this has happened.

This is best for everyone involved.

I have no idea where he lives, the point was that he wasn't run out of town by the irrational OSU fan mob like a certain professional victim.

If people threatened your family are you tweeting the city you are moving them to? I'd bet a million dollars you wouldn't.

I agree on the third part. Good riddance.

Your 'guilty of overestimating' statement is absolutely true.

Arkansas Fan went to insane lengths to drive Houston Nutt out of Fayetteville. He was dug in like a chigger and every bit as irritating.

I got chiggers from our back yard in Ohio, those are annoying as Hell.

But when Nutt sacked Dick so he he play his Johnson, those were good times.

I'm not trying to be argumentative or invalidate how y'all feel about Herbie. I understand it now that I know some of the details - even if I personally wouldn't participate in the vitriol directed at the man.

What I'm saying, is that until this recent 'moving to Nashville' deal, I had little idea that there was such harsh feelings toward the man, and that from an outsiders perspective at least, it's a bit shocking.

Which is similar to the Houston Nutt/Arkansas Fan deal.

Outsiders thought Arkansas Fans were insane to treat him the way he was treated, but they didn't know the details about what was really going on.

That's all I'm saying.

And it's Herbie that is stirring up the drama again, making it a national news story. Otherwise no one would know (I think there was one random blog which was simply a rumor of him moving, and only OSU boards noticed that)

Fair enough.
