He’s an ass.....he was part of the media problem not addressing how terrible the SEC was and has been in recent years.
And they (the SEC) still gets propped up to the point of mythological status.
To get 2 teams, from what was the 3rd best conference in the country, was absurd. And that isn’t to say OSU should’ve been in, it’s just to say, a conference that was just mediocre, should never get two. Herbie helped grease those wheels by never calling the SEC what it was....a trash conference. But that isn’t allowed on the “mothership”....
They’ve been awfully quiet on all of their programming about the Big 10’s dominance. They’ll mention it in passing, but nobody has mentioned the fact that, by far, the best conference in the country, doesn’t have a representative in the CFP. That’s a shame.....

I generally agree, but still come back to the problems with a Big Ten team being in- Wisconsin losing their last game (I guess that puts them on par with Bama, though) and Ohio State losing two games, with one being an absolutely awful loss to Iowa, and really not looking great on offense against Michigan and Wisconsin (and continuing to not look great on offense against USC).
Bama getting in is easy to rip apart, but a B1G team would be just as easy to criticize.
Another dynamic is that when Ohio State makes the BCS/playoff, the rest of the B1G gets bumped up into what are usually pretty substantial mismatches.
Ohio State has done this a lot over the past 17 years, Go Bucks! which is a huge part of the reason the conference gets a bad rap in my opinion; lots of bowl losses, usually as underdogs (obviously Ohio State’s duds in 2006/2007 got the ball rolling from the top in a big way on that).
On the flip side, I think Ohio State (or Wisconsin) not making the playoff this year bumped everyone down into better matchups, and the results are obvious.
What’s the point? I don’t really know, just that the world is complicated, I guess.
May Georgia and Bama go down in flames in the playoff, and Clemson too.

The problem is if you put Wisconsin’s resume, on a Bama Jersey they’d be in, even with that last loss.
The “over ranking” of SEC teams is self-fulfilling prophecy. The mid-season ratings bump of Auburn, when they’re just not that great. Somehow keeping Miss St and LSU in the top 25....just cause, SEC, ya know? Multiple times this year, the only ranked 4 loss teams in the top 25 were from the SEC. At some point, all you can do is laugh.
It’s bullshit. The SEC is a league of really lousy coaching outside of Saban, and a bunch of teams loaded with talent that play really average football.
Again, I’m not trying to stump for OSU being in playoff. I’m showing the ludicrous nature of sliding two SEC teams in, when the SEC just isn’t worthy of it. Their league was a distant third this year, behind the Big 10 and ACC. Top to bottom, the SEC just isn’t good....
You aren’t going to get any reasonable analysis from a network with a $2.2B deal and ownership of the SEC network though....

Absolutely agree with this. When the Big Ten was going 2-6, 3-5, whatever every year in bowls, they were also one of the only conference getting two teams into BCS bowl games every year which resulted in 3rd/4th/5th place Big Ten teams getting matched up against 2nd place teams from across the country. This year was the flip side of the coin....

The Big Ten as a conference has had problems in bowl games prior to this year, but Ohio State has not.
Ohio State has more BCS/NY6 bowl games victories (10) than any other team. Southern Cal is next with 7, and then Alabama with 6 (but Bama has yet to play its bowl game(s) this season).
Ohio State's record in BCS/NY6 bowl games is 10-5 (.667 win pct). Here are the records of some other major programs:
Southern Cal: 7-2 (.778 win pct)
Alabama: 6-5 (.545 win pct)
Oklahoma: 5-6 (.455 win pct)
Florida State: 4-7 (.364 win pct)
Florida: 5-2 (.714 win pct)
Wisconsin: 4-3 (.571 win pct)
Clemson: 4-2 (.667 win pct)

Should Alabama be in the playoffs? That's a pretty terrible way to go, but look, I'm just saying your New Year's Day would be a lot better if Jalen Hurts was on your television screen. Bigly better. The Big Ten just isn't sending their best. And it's not just me saying it, oh no, lots of people have said that. Good people. Smart people. The best people. They wrote an article I read, and it said that America would have defeated the Chinese already if Nick Saban could get his hands on that low-energy Potter and his friends. Some "reporters" have mentioned that he lost to the Tigers this season, but I look outside, and I see snow on the ground. Can't explain that. Tigers are great animals, aren't they folks? I've often heard people, who are too kind, very kind people, tell me, "you have the fierceness of a tiger." I wouldn't say it, but if they think it. I don't know, what can you do? We have the best tigers in our zoos. I've been to zoos all over, all of the zoos, and our tigers are the best. You folks want to see Melania now? Come on out Melania, these good people want to see you!
