I look at it through this lens:
Herbie has to do whatever he can to maintain his employment, because as a NTAC tele-personality, he has nothing to fall back on. He's no Mussberger or any of the classics. This is one and only track, because he couldn't do fuck all otherwise. Hell, he uses animals for sympathy, not because he actually cares about THEM.
