And as far as locking in on Holmes, during the first half of the season that's all we had. Ginn wasn't finishing his routes and that cost at least one or two picks. Hall hasn't done anything and Bam hasn't either. We now have three legit WRs on this team in Holmes, Ginn, and Gonzo.

Lets not all forget that at the beginning of the season we were replacing 13 other starters, not just the QB. We had 3 new Oline men and honestly our line was not very good. Marshall collapsed the pocket faster then SCUM did, that alone should indicate how much of an improvement a season can make for so MANY young players. You don't send 14 players into the NFL and not miss a beat, it just doesn't happen. We had some growing pains and if any of you thought we wouldn't then you were dillusional.

I think the team has matured and grown and its obvious Zwick will have a few more weapons at his disposal. I think our play calling has changed and it has made a difference, but I don't think the quarterback is the key to us winning, it will be the offensive line and our defense.

We need to control the ball and take away their run game. Zwick will get his opportunities and I for one am anxious to see if he can capitalize on his chances, he doesnt need to carry the team, just be mistake free (ie turnovers)....if he does that, then I think it will be a step in the right direction for him.

I just want to say for all of you zwick bashers out there, I hope everyone of you are hoping for a good performance from him, because as this situation with Smith shows you, Zwick could be very valuable next year, I for one am glad we have a back up with experience to play in the bowl game.

just to throw in my 2 cents on this:

this team at the beginning of the year was much different. lydell ross was being forced down everyone's throat. brandon joe was out. the ol has improved since the start of the year. ginn was raw at WR. hall and childress were the #2 and #3 wr's respectively with no emergence from lyongs or gonzo. pittman was still finding his way. mo hall has run pretty well the lst few weeks. The team is now completely healthy.

now for smith. he has started 5 games. the indiana game osu was going to win regardless of who started. against psu 2 of our 3 td's wrent by the offense. teddy ballgame basically won the msu game. purdue, well, that wasnt pretty. then TTUN.

Smith really only has one game that truly distinguishes him from zwick.

Now with that being said, i dont care who the qb is. but, given how this season has gone, zwick deserves at least this shot to prove himself. in a perfect world, osu would run the ball great, and zwick would put forth a pedestrian effort good enough to get a win, but illustrate that troy should be the man, therby eliminating all controversy, or zwick should thorw for about 350 yards and stake his claim to the spot. however, i doubt either will occur.

Whenever I have seen JZ off the field I haven't been really impressed with how he carries himself. Yet, that was the one thing that impressed me most about TS. Looks can be decieving, huh? Look? This Bowl game with JZ is just going to show us what we really have. Frankly, I think we should be good enough to win no matter who is playing QB. tOSU should have enough talent on the field, that one player can never make or break whether we win a game. Maybe JZ's time off has settled him down. If we have a hell of a game out of him, then where does that put us for next year? Frankly I don't think this would have been as big of a deal for us if it wasn't for the scUM game. The scUM game turned TS into a star. I just hope this bowl game can do the same for JZ. Nothing wrong with having two great QBs on your team. Tressel said before the year started that they were going to need both QBs...boy was he right. This is by far the strangest year for tOSU football in my lifetime.

zwick is another orrville bust for the buckeyes. His reaction time is way off from how bad the o-liner played for qb protection and when he started getting some time to pass, he was a joke. To scared to take a sack so it was free ball for all. To many INTS

Tom bolyard(sp) was considered the best ohio qb since art schgambler then . came Zwick with the same honor.

zwick transferred to massillon as a junior

The qb at orrville this year has great size and stats and was named all summit county and some type of all state honors but, has no offers

In the lowest division so maybe, that matters

Alot of area coaches use to laugh at me because, they all said he wasn't good enough for osu. I hope he proves them wrong but, the best qb on the team is BOECKMAN counting smith but, we all know how tressel sticks with upperclassman if its close competition.
ex, drew carter to holmes and Ginn at the end of the season being used like he should have been in the beginning

Justin Zwick and the Alamo Bowl

You know what I'm tired of hearing? We'll lose because Zwick, not Smith, is starting. I have not heard that from this board, don't get me wrong. I'm hearing it from every Tom harry dick I see walking around C-Bus.

What the hell? Did Zwick suddenly turn in to a piece of crap QB? I don't think so. Personally, I liked our chances better with Smith, but that's not to say that I think Zwick can't move this team. I don't know.. I guess I'm venting... Scream it from the rooftops... "JUSTIN ZWICK DOES NOT SUCK!"

This is the defining game of Zwick's career. I'm hoping he plays great and wins back the QB job. If he doesn't play well this could be his last shot at OSU.
